wow man i feel bad, i thought breaking both of my axles sat was shitty, i saw your car on the way home sitting in a gas station parking lot i figured it was you! Black Integras were in bad shape Sat…Must be something like black cats…damn!
btw jeff i have blocks that would be good for sleeving!
did you at least get your money back for the shitty tune. Maybe it was injector failure thar caused it?
I’d put money on injector failing over the tune, it’s rare for an end cyl like that to be the one damaged from a tune as the inside cylinders run hotter than the outside.
yep doesnt sound like the tune would effect just one cylinder… check the ohms on the injector if they are very low then its broke. check all of them to see how they compare to each other
The injectors were brand new RCs, not that injectors cant go bad at any time its just not at the top of the list.
All 4 cylinders showed signs of excessive heat but in order from worst to best it was 4,3,2,1.
The tune is posted on Honda-tech.com if anyone wants to check it out.
Eric at hybrid had an rc fail new and take his motor out
Damn, sorry to see that.
i’d still check the injectors you never know!
let us know how the injectors test, you should probably send them back to rc to be flow tested and cleaned before putting them back in your car… you have time
Sucks your engine blew, but without any logs–your just guessing on what went wrong. does the ecu use the wideband to correct for a/f? if so, and if you run leaded gas, the lead could have killed the o2 which let it run lean but think it was rich. i have sen bosch style widebands killed in as little as 1 tank full of lead. hence why i have about 30 used wideband 02’s saved up that i make my guys take off cars at work when they dismantle them.
an injector could have failed, but i dont see why the other cylinders would have damage… maybe if you were running the injectors way high of a duty cycle, and they just couldnt keep up.
w/ that said, whats the fuel pump situation. pressure drop on the pump maybe. at wot, charging system wasn’t supplying volts to the pump which lead to a fuel flow problem. or the pump itself got maxed out. i dont see a single walbro 255 supporting this type of hp level, so whats the pump setup.
tons of variables i can see. without any logs or data, your pissing in the wind in my opinion.
build it for better. atleast it is end of the year.
The pump is a Aermotive a1000 they claim the pump is good for 800 to the crank. All the supply lines were -10.
This is not going to happen again I am going to make sure that I log every run.
Just depressing, But if I really think about it my goals for the car were 600whp and a 10 sec run. I got both of them so thats one thing to be happy about.:tounge:
Just wanted to add one thing, I hope nobody is mad at he for makeing this thread! It was only to find out what went wrong and not to blame anyone! When starting builds like this you have to relize that something like this could happen at ANY time.
SO NO HARD FEALINGS…PLEASE
its not the motha fucken injectors…
maybe that there is your problem??? claim 800 at crank, your at 612 whp. thats over 700 crank, 800 crank if you use 25% drivetrain loss.
i had the same pump as you. it died on the jack stands. never put 1 mile on it. magnet came loose in the housing, as it is epoxied to the housing wall. My pump would pump fuel, but not hold pressure. So i sent it back, they wanted 150 to fix it, i told them to keep it and got a bosch 044 pump.
another thought-- the gas your car was tuned on, and the gas you raced on, same thing? i.e. didnt tune on sunocco 110 then switch to vp at the track?
as for hard feelings, i have none. i dont even know where the car was tuned/or by who. just trying to trouble shoot for you.
i don’t think anyone truly has hard feelings other than a certain individual on your honda-tech thread.
wow, i just read the ht thread… i’m leaning toward the 2 gallons of gas bit. that was left out on this thread.
also funny to see damian in that thread crying rip-off or whatever he is spraying. Jeff, do yourself a favor and read this— http://www.pittspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27340
two gallons of gas? lemme guess, somebody tried to keep weight at a minimum in a 600+hp Honda for a pass or two?
I wouldn’t think of even starting my truck with only two gallons of gas in the tank. I run at 3/4 - full tank always. I don’t ever want to starve the motor of fuel. And mine aint boosted. That’s just a bad idea.
I dont think it was a weight issue, he Tried to get some more race fuel but no one had any
this is true, I stoped at the suoco on 88 and they had signs up saying they were out of gas.I usually dont run that much more so I figured it would be fine. It is a sumped tank and 2 gallons in a honda is about a 1/4 tank.
