the deals are thier is all
why buy a car that could run 11s with a retune, and slow it down… putting a stock converter in it will make it a SLUG.:retardclap
lol ok so hypathetically speaking if i wanted to constantly comb craigslist and forums I may or may not have found a better deal. Point well taken. This however was a very easy transaction for several reasons.
A. I’m from Albany so it was almost 0 distance
B. The car was well known in the area and documented in the forum
C. Seller was a Sherrif therefore trust worth
D. My friend Chaz (MX-5) called me after he actually found the car
I hear what your saying that there are some times great deals on clean stock cars, but that generally isn’t the case. I personally would never buy a car without first seeing and test driving it, so the seller is a very important part of that equation for me. While I might not care for certain things Paul did with the car he was very upfront about any and all issues with it. (minus the zip tied headlight which I did notice, but didn’t bust his ball about) Plus the fact that he was in law enforcement made me feel a lot more comfortable meeting up with him and paying in cash.
Anyway I think we’ve beat this topic to death enough
Cause the big stall converter is fun, but I have other faster toys. I’m going to slowly turn this into just a nice summer DD that handles well and still gets good enough fuel milage I can afford to drive it everywhere and not have to eat kraft mac and chesse for every meal. Also the wife can’t drive stick so this is my way of trying to get her interested in the hobby by buying a car she can actually drive.
since u like stock, bone stock u wana clean 2000 camio lemme knoooooo
lololololol :ahh
Well I guess I should clarify I don’t like stock, but I don’t like a 3800 stall converter for something I drive everyday and 900 bucks for a full kit to build the trans isn’t feasible for me. Neither is a few thousand when a built trans destroys the weak 10 bolt rear. I want a nice LS1 with full exhaust, intake, bolt ons and maybe a small cam. So purchasing this car as I did for the price I paid makes a lot of sense for me. It has most of the mods I want and 1 I don’t so I can fix it up and still drive and enjoy it while I do. This is much more appealing to me then saving up through this summer into next to buy a cleaner stock car and then spend more money in the long run modding it the way I want.
i have a 4.5k stall in ine and my rear is still nice and tight
hahahahahahaaaa at slowmarroooo…understood, still let me kno hahahaaa id day i gotta clean t/a too but shes not for sale
thats because you give instead of receive
ooooooo jellies coming out with a good one hahahahahahahaaaaa:rofl
lol guess i stired the hornets nest on the 10 bolt GM reliabilty debate. I’ve personally destoryed one with normal use/abuse with a mild 350 so i don’t have too much faith in them. Some ppl have luck with them other don’t. It depends on too many factors. Either way I want a car that will run a high 12, handle well and be drivable every day and still be safe enough for me to give the keys to the wife and for her to have fun as well. So a bolt on auto LS1 should fit the bill just fine.
Since I haven’t updated the thread in months I guess I should get around to it. I had a guy I work with at the dealership rebuild the original trans from the car and I did install a stock stall converter. So now the car is finally drivable again just in time to put it away for the winter.
why did you put a stock converter in it?
because it’s gonna be my summer daily and I have a 20 mile ride each way to work. I want a nice 4th gen that I can actually afford to drive and handles well. I only bought this thing from paul cause it was too cheap to pass up and already had all the suspension stuff I wanted on it. The fact that the high stall one was broken made the decission a lot easier too. The end of the snout that engauges the pump was broken on the 3800 converter when I pulled the trans to have it rebuilt.
ooo no shit. I didnt know the verter was broken.
the conv is broke ???/ im gonna have to tell my friend that was into it , that its no good .
Ya the snout was shot when I pulled it out. I though you and your friend lost interest after I didn’t hear from you for such a long time other wise I would have messaged you.
he still wants it , i just told him to call ya directly lolol . as im always busy as hell . he did have a lot of traveling to do his daughter races all over in the car it was intended for
Sorry I tossed it a while ago. Do you have that headlight bar for an LT1 car though a friend of mine needs one?
