why dont you just replace the whole line? that way you dont have to worry about splicing anything together, just get your tubing bender and start at the beginning and have at it. brake line is no that expensive, and you’ll be better off this way. also, dont know if its been said or not, but the piece of rubber hose to use as a splice idea that you mentioned…not the best idea IMO.
