Buffalo Police Brutality?

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but the problem lately is this “mob” rule shit going around. Until you have “walked a mile in his shoes”, maybe your opinion should be just that, an opinion. Don’t be so fast to cast judgment when most have no idea what police deal with. Keep making their job more and more difficult you will see restraint to the point of inaction.

Should he be punished for his lack of professionalism, absolutely. Fired, absolutely not for a first offense.

And no, I’m not a cop. I do however have very close friends that have been cops for years.

The whole point is cops are held to a high standard

If you can’t handle the job and act properly don’t be a cop

I don’t care if its stressful or whatever there are tons of people who can handle it fine and don’t break rules/laws while doing their job.

If u wanna break the law, u face the aftermath. how come normal citizens and people that follow the law never complain about police brutality? Get a new ship to sail on.

the last couple years accountability has been thrown out the window. If I broke the law and ran from the cops the. They tackled me and I continued to fight. Then they kicked and punched me. I am a victim and they over stepped their boundaries. What a crock of shit.

Anytime i broke the law, I knew what I was doing.

Action on and re action.

What you fail to consider is as a species, we make mistakes. While that doesn’t justify inappropriate action by police, it still needs to be considered. Other factors such as adrenaline and fear need to be taken into consideration as well. They’re not robots that you can program LZ. Neither of us are subject matter experts and that is exactly why you shouldn’t be so quick judge.

You’re making broad excuses for an outlier event.

The vast majority of cops don’t make these mistakes and are good cops.

If the officer can’t handle his fear/adrenaline what is to say something similar couldn’t happen when faced with more stress and possible having his weapon out.

I’m not a subject matter expert on this but you’re defending all cops while only 1 here made a major mistake.

Eh, I hardly consider myself to be defending police with broad excuses. Do you know the vast majority of cops? Do you hear of the vast majority of daily interactions with civilians? I sincerely doubt it. Therefore, who is using broad excuses LZ? They’re still people and people make mistakes. That’s my point. Think about it.

That said, if an officer makes a serious mistake, the punishment should be equally serious. All factors need to be considered.

Hey when are you going to get another chance to take a swing at a handcuffed minority without any repercussions?

Cops aren’t held to a high standard. They are held to THE STANDARD.

So you’re saying that someone who commits a crime should be held accountable for their actions? For example, if someone (even a cop) assaulted someone who did not, at the time, pose a threat to them that they should be arrested and charged? Because that’s what people here are getting at.

As for the guy playing victim, I agree that it’s a bunch of bullshit. My argument in this matter does not look at that guy with any pity, but a cop deserves to be arrested for assault just as much as a civilian if they committed they crime.

It boils down to:

  1. What the cops did was wrong. Once the cuffs were on use your damn head and realize there are cameras everywhere.

  2. It’s no where near as big a deal as the media and cop haters are making it out to be. This wasn’t even close to the beating Rodney King took or Richard Long (the college kid BPD and a businessman stomped to death after a traffic stop back in the 70’s and only served 18 months for).

  3. The fact that he’s a drug dealing piece if shit who ran and resisted arrest doesn’t matter in the eyes of the law but makes it tough for most good citizens to give a damn.

Everything beyond that, the indignation, the cries from his mom about “my poor baby” and all the other garbage the news is hyping up is just drama to sell news.

Agreed.

I do not agree w a lot of what is being said or tried to be argued about.

He ran and fought the police. Deal w the consequences of being a druggy and running from the cops and fighting them.

I feel the same way about guys that run their mouths and say ohh don’t touch me or I’ll sue.

The consequences of running from police and dealing drugs are ti be determined by a court not an officer. He over stepped his bounds and if you want to hold everyone accountable for their actions then the police officer should be charged as well. I am not trying to defend the criminal but the officer crossed the line and became a criminal the second he kicked a restrained prisoner.

in this situation. Know that there may be times that an officer is justified, and needs to, kick a suspect that is restrained in handcuffs. You can never predict all scenarios. Lastly, it’s not “criminal” what he did, it’s almost certain harrassment 2nd, which is a violation. Any punishment he sees will likely be internal.

This was CLEARLY not one of those times.

Nobody knows what happened prior to that video being recorded. If that guy really was spitting on people, he deserved what he got.

This. Spitting on people is right up there with hitting a handcuffed guy IMHO. It’s a pussy, piece of shit thing to do.

Especially since its not like the cop knows the guys medical history. Does he have the HIV? If he has some nasty disease, he might as well be pulling a gun.

Still missing the point. The guy deserves more than what he got IMO, but guess what? He’ll get a hell of a lot more than a slap in the back of the head when he’s in jail.

The officer broke the law, plain and simple.
