C6 Z06 blown engine not covered by warranty

I think he is trying to refer to everyone hating on the gt-r because the transmission grenaded after I think a few launches, Which would make zero sense, Who knows how many miles this guy had on the z06 and how many other times he tracked and launched it. Obviously they are not gonna cover it, but you can’t compare this to more then one gt-r trans. blowing up early in life and not getting covered.

how do you know he was going as fast as possible? i don’t, you don’t, and neither does anyone else on this forum. way to call me out on an assumption :roflpicard:

The ‘more than one GTR trannies’ had more than 40 launches before breaking the engines in. But yes, you’ve got my intention spot on.

Let’s see what MPD has to say about that…and I won’t resort to calling names, I’m not a child…and I don’t cry because I posted about an engine blowing up :roflpicard:

If you spent an ounce of time at the track you’d know that a semi automatic gearbox grenading in a significant portion of cars, while running in stock specification, is not in the slightest bit comparable to hours of track abuse on the oiling system and drivetrain components of a car. You’d also know that Porsche has denied similar claims on GT3’s, which are touted as a “track car” as well. And Nissan has denied similar claims on Nismo 350z’s (and track editions ones as well). BMW initially denied ALL engine claims in response to e46 M3 engine’s failing, and only warrantied 2000-01 and some '02’s with a certain type of part number internally due to a tolerance flaw. Hmmm, sensing a pattern here? Parts fail at the track, there is a reason people bring spares when they go “racing”. Yes, even when not wheel to wheel manufacturers consider “track time” racing.

No don’t worry, you just proved your ignorance to anyone who posts here regularly once again.

yeah, because when someone goes to a race track to learn about HIGH PERFORMANCE driving they baby their car.

haha, who the hell are you kidding man?

For someone who has slightly good grammar, you certainly can’t read English.

This will be the third time in this thread I have said this: the similarities between this situation, the situations you JUST listed, and the GTR’s tranny issue are EXTREMELY similar. I’d like to see how the people who jumped on that bandwagon respond to this

I can only spoonfeed you so much, try opening your mouth or something…

No don’t worry, you just proved your ignorance to anyone who posts here regularly once again.

…suuuuuuure. You missed my point in the first place, my ‘ignorance’ is nothing short of your inability to read what I posted.

did i say that gm was wrong in turning it down? nooooooooooo

all i said was I CAN SEE WHAT HE WAS TRYING TO INTERPRET THE WARRANTY WORDING AS. if you can’t understand that then i’m not even going to try explaining it again because you can’t get it through your thick skull

i think his point is that we can only assume teh guy was driving faster / harder then is legal on teh street, but we can not automaticly assume he was driving @ 100% of what the car can do

he could have easily blown the engine little by little over the course of teh day. missed shift here, overrev there, engine brake some during a slow lap, maybe overheat the car at some point, who knows. but chancs are if he had ran errands all day that day instead of going to the driving school, the car would have still been in perfect shape at the end of the day.

ok, just making sure that you didn’t seriously think that they should cover it due to clever wording.

I guess IMO high performance driving on a sanctioned racing track is the same thing as racing.

No boardjnky, jay doesn’t. He’s just playing devils advocate. (As I harassed him about this elsewhere on teh internets ;))

A part that failed during extremely high g loads during off road racing use is similar to a part that failed during on public roads while being used in the exact way the manufacturer intended how?

Hint: I’ve been in person when a GTR trans failed, and in person when a Z06 engine failed at the track.

What like you when you take a load of your boyfriends cum while riding in your POS supra?

LOL at this thread, LOL at this motor blowing being compared to GTR’s exploding transmissions. LOL at this dude bothering to come on here to make this thread with the intent of “hehe i will pwn them all cause the ZO6 broke so the GTR will reign supreme!!!”

LOL

yeah, it is a high performance driving school. by definition of the word, he was driving the car hard. there is no knowing exactly what caused the engine to blow, that is obivous. But yes, if he had simply picked up the few groceries that would fit in the trunk, he would not be in this dilemna. That IS the reason why GM will not cover the work.

06 - 08 Z06s oiling system do have a slight issue when it comes to prolonged right hand turns at high G (greater than 1.1). The pick up for the sump is on the right hand side of the pan. So, in said high G right handers the sump won’t pick up oil. This isn’t a problem on the skreet because the oil tank will supply the motor with plenty of oil as long as there is enough to last through the time when the car is at high G in a right turn. IT takes a really long time and a really high load to run the tank dry, but is evident that there’s a reason that serious track drives put a lager tank in like this one from Lingenfelter. http://www.lingenfelter.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=L300046006&Category_Code= And also why GM went to a larger tank and slightly revised the sump on the ZR1 and 09 Z06s. Mind you, this is a track only issue and one that no-one will encounter on the street no matter how spirited the driving is.

not at all, just trying to understand the point he was trying to make, thats it

:picard:

MPD has probably been in more gtr’s than you have seen in person

A part failed on the Z06 during ‘racing conditions’ and the warranty was declined. Parts also failed on the GTR during ‘racing conditions’ and the warranty was similarly declined. The only comparison I’m making

Keep hurling the insults, it just goes to show that you do agree that the situations are similar, but you don’t want to admit it

It is funny no one on this forum hated on the Skyline because it did what it was built to do. It performed well and was very moddable.
The GTR was build with a button called luanch on the car and then voided the warranty when it is pressed. And even threatened to void the warranty for aftermarket wheel let alone an exhuast or anything.

I like the idea of the GTR but think it hurt it’s own image by not staying true to it’s origins.
Similar to the 300ZX which was my dream car as a kid. The datsun was originally marketed as an inexpensive light weight car. By 96 they priced themselves out of the market.

GTR Trans grenading on highway while driving in the first 1000 miles of it’s existence = Z06 blowing engine at track.

Yep, very similar.

Faggot. (thanks ILC!)

told you so…

That’s a very respectable point of view, I’d like to hear more of this. It’s the people who hate the GTR for being the GTR that I’m talking about though

Speaking of Z’s, I’d always like to pick up a cheap 280Z, restore the interior and swap in something bigger…

Still with the personal insults  Someone is very butthurt  I’m sowwy…wipes dribble from chin

Was that transmission replaced free of charge or no? If yes, I’m not surprised. If no, it’s in almost the same boat as the Z06, and I refuse to believe those first 1k miles were without punishment.
