CANADIAN TICKET???

the ticket is yellow and i see option 3, do you think its all worth it? i mean if the worst outcome is not being able to drive in Canada for 6 months id rather just do nothing about it. i go to Canada maybe twice a year. the only reason id fight it is if it affected my NYS license or banning me from canada

i never paid a canadian radar ticket and never got shit for it.

If I get a ticket for a moving violation in another state, do I receive points on my NYS driver license?
The NYSDMV does not record out-of-state violations committed by NYS drivers in other jurisdictions. The exceptions are alcohol-related violations, drug-related violations, and moving violations committed in Quebec or Ontario. Under special agreements, traffic convictions in Quebec or Ontario are recorded on NYS driver license records and carry points. Except for violations in Ontario and Quebec, points are not added to your NYS record for out-of-state violations.

ya the lawyer said they would have to call the NYS DMV and ask them to carry if over.

so what you guys do if you got this ticket?

Yes it is a law in NYS as well…

don’t know the exact wording but it is something along the lines of move over, or drop below 15MPH of posted speed limit…

I would have to pull out my traffic book but its too much to go through lol

the more posts i add the closer im to being a speeder lifer! :ohyeah:

OT posts dont count…retard

:rubicant:
FGGT.

i have received multiple speeding tickets in ontario and never paid one of them. no points ever transferred over to my nys liscense. about the only thing they ever did…the city of hamilton attempted to scare me in a letter by threateneing to report my unpaid fine to a collection agency…and even that never happened.

so sure there is a possibility something can come of it if you ignore the ticket…but most likely they are not gunna waste their time calling nys over one measly unpaid ticket. they have so much other shit to deal with.

Haha, its not going to be officer himself giving a ring to his homeboys at the NYS DMV, they have low paid clerks to do this kind of thing, who I’m sure don’t have anything better to do. That said, whether or not it will ever get done, who knows?

these low paid clerks do have plenty of work to do. traffic violations are the busiest part of any court system. and i doubt these clerks have permission to just call a foreign countries legal system to report a violation without the ok from a judge. and again, the judge will see thousands of traffic cases a year and probably doesnt give two shits about one random american dude who decided not to pay his $300 ticket. ive had many speeding tickets in ontario that were not paid and nothing became of them. i still went to canada on a weekly basis, customs never denied me, and opp never mentioned anything about past violation when i was pulled over again and again. maybe im one lucky guy…but im guessing the process of communicating traffic violations between foreign governments is too painstaking to be worth the effort unless its an extreme situation.

^ You act like sending a speeding ticket over is like extradicting a murderer. NY, Ontario and Quebec already have a system in place for sharing moving violation information and I highly doubt in involves any special permission from a judge. Good for you that you’ve been lucky so far, but it’s horrible advice to just ignore it when the DMV clearly states they share information.

the suggestions i made were as simple as mailing a letter…

do it.

i got 4 points from canada on my nys license do not ignore it worst advice ever

the koolaid guy was meant to represent sarcasm… retard

my gfs dad talked to his contact at the DMV and she said the only time she has seen Canada try to contact the NYS DMV to do anything was on serious unpaid speeding tickets and even then the NYS DMV doesnt have to do anyting about it. he told me to sit on it and if i get anything in the mail to fight it.

I didn’t read all the other crap, but that is a law in GA and it carries a $500 penalty.

Plus, its common sense. Cops are going to ghrow it at youall the time because its their life that is on the line if you are being a d-bag and target fixate.

Oh, and seeing as you live in WNY, I’m sure you will never be in Canada again, I’m sure it is a brilliant idea to just blow the ticket off.

:picard:

are you dumb?> i couldnt move over to start off with. i slowed down to under the speed limit for safe passing and having an outstanding traffic ticket will not affect me crossing the boarder, unless i was driving the car. get your head out of your ass!

i blew off 2 tickets in canada, one for radar and one for passangers not being buckled up in the back seat. i never got shit for them.

It will be the cops word versus, yours. Its an interpretive law, you will lose.

And keep on rolling around with 3 tickets in Canada and let me know how that works out for you.

 remember when you knew what you were talking about? i dont!

if i took it to court i would bring the 2 witnesses in that were in the car and a lawyer because its a bullshit ticket. those other 2 tickets were like 4 -5 years ago and i have been pulled over a few times in canada since then with no problem, so i guess ill keep rolling around in canada. a canadian lawyer told me the most they will do is suspend my license in ON for 6 months. so when you learn something or have correct imput to place in this thread, come on back. k thanks bye

it was actually 1 ticker for radar and a warning for the seat belts.
