So i was in class today and someone said that red cars have higher ins premiums. I was like bs that makes no logical sense. So I called Geico and they confirmed they do not care. But half of the class, including the teacher doesn’t believe me.
Well depends on your deductibles too. I pay like $90 for Full coverage on my WS6, and liability on my 99 Escalade through Geico. But my deductible for my WS6 is $1,000. But when its back on the road i plan to lower my deductible so i can afford to fix it if something were to happen.
I really want to know if this works like employment discrimination law, where you can discriminate on whatever you want if you can statistically prove on an objective test that a certain factor is directly correlated with job performance
Myth #9: “The color of my car affects my insurance rate.”
False. The color of your car does not impact your car insurance rates. What does influence your rate is your vehicle’s year, make, model, body type, and engine size, along with your credit history and driving record.
I don’t think it’s so much lying as the front line phone rep probably doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
Fact: Car color is not part of the VIN
Fact: You get your car insurance quote long before they take pictures of your car, so they’re not using the pictures to determine color.
Fact: When I log into my Geico account online and go to change vehicle info, color is not even listed.
So if color does determine rate I’d love to know how Geico is magically figuring out what color my car is.
