fantastic move. This has to be the best post that You’ve ever made on here.
Now, refer to the rest of the thread.
Oh… and for shits & giggles, I spent 90 seconds looking through Your recent threads:
lol owned
dude i think i can safely say that there is somebody worse than me with decision making… i just dont make 1435423323 threads about every idea
yeah, im done. whip out the ban stick. go for it. bye bye NYSpeed.
Man o Man:biglol:
wtf? do you want a tissue?
no one said anything about banning you?
like you said, its your truck, so who gives a fuck what you do with it. If you want to dump 5k on it, who cares right? But you are asking a bunch of questions/opinions about your plans on a public forum, where everyone and anyone will voice their opinion about it, good or bad. Dont get all pissy about the responses people are giving. Fuck i dump so much time and a decent amount into my Vw’s and i think its funny how much hate their is for them. I love the cars, and i love working on them. Thats how you are with your truck, so rock on with whatever you want to do. Not everyone drives a civic/mustang/transmarobird
:headbang: :headbang:
OK … this is gonna be my last post with this kid …
the ONLY good way to spend your baller dough on that truck is a STANDALONE … THATS IT … dont buy anything else …
trust me … you’ll regret it if you do buy anything else
Mike. Listen to this man^^ if your really dead set on going with the mopar 360, than do it. Its your vehicle, its your money.
But have a plan
Dont decide to do a stroker crank, than a drop kit, than a cam
Priorities. My good man, Motor first, than exhaust, than body than interior. Or whatever order you want to do em
And if its one thing ive learned about Nyspeed/Ubrf. dont ask about trucks/truck motors, very few people will know the answer. And the 2% of people here who do know the answer, are almost always 99% right
^ This is unnecessary.
Although everyone else in this thread might be arguing with Mike at least they are attempting some constructive criticism in their opinions.
And to Mike, if you really plan to do everything you told me you are going to, don’t chance it and go forged.
You need a plan for sure. But having a “performance” truck as your fun/project car shouldnt be on it.
ok, just to clear things up:
i DO have a plan, and that is (in this order):
-finsih off the exhaust with the high flow cat and bigger downpipes and cutouts (contrary to popular belief, people on the Dakota forums actually say the cutouts DO help with a cammed motor. wont do much for my un-cammed 360, but this is, again, in preparation for the 408, which will be cammed, obviously)
-408 motor (i plan on getting a short block from a junkyard, stripping it, having it machined, and then wokring on building it up a little at a time). i will then be able to keep my motor in and just drive it while the buildup happens, and then i’ll have a perfectly good spare 360 after the fact, should i ever need it
-replace the transmission with a stronger one built to handle more power (already have the research on that done, have the builder sourced, and have most of the money set aside for it, just waiting for mine to check out for good). the transmission will blow before the 408 is ready to be dropped in, so when the 408 does go in, the rest of the drivetrain will be able to handle it (rear ends in these can hold a lot of power, so it should be good to go for now)
-FAST stand alone (i am well aware of the fact that the stock computer aint gonna do shit with any mods, and how crututial stand alones are) and then have it tuned. right now, there is only one company on the market making stand alones for my truck, however word on the street (or on the boards, should i say), is that someone else is coming out with a new system that is better and will be cheaper, and easier to tune, so im kind of playing the waiting gome on this one.
-MAYBE go with FI somtime in the very distant future. people with similair 408 setups are putting down pretty decent numbers, and id like to see what that ‘feels like’ befefore i make my decision about FI. even if i did, this would be years down the road, like as in after i am out of college and have a staeady income to where i have some extra money to toy around with.
-same thing applies with my idea to swap in a Durango R/T AWD system. if SOMEDAY i have the money, i’ll do it.
-kinda lost the desire to lower it, but next time i need new shocks i’ll deffinately go with something thats better than OEM. same thing with the brakes.
is this whole thing gonna cost a lot of money? hell yes. dollar for dollar is it worth it? no way. am i going to end up with something thats different than most other people, and have it be decently quick? yes.when its all done, am i going to be happy with what i have and all of the work and money i put ito it? you better believe it. this whole build is not going to happen overnight, and the only reason im getting the parts now is because i have the money and i found an overstock deal on them, and the price is right.
o and by the way, as per people on the Dakota forums, the cast steel crank is good for ~600 hp. im not gonna be anywhere close to that unless boost it, and even then then i would be lukcy if i got into the upper 500s. i also have no intentions to ever spray it. if it ever comes to the point where i need a stronger crank, then i’ll pull the motor again and put a forged crank in it and put new bearings and everything in the bottom end. cant hurt anything.
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE FUCK A PART CAN BE RATED TO STAND UP TO A CERTAIN HP, there are way to many fucking variables that have to be taken into account if the god damn part will survive. /rant
y not spray it even a small shot , i didnt read ur whole list of things u had planned, but even a mildly build motor should have no problem handling 100-150 shot

i COULD run upper 500 hp numbers if i superchared, stoked AND sprayed. sorry if i was not clear about that.
but its still ugly
Why do you bother posting things like this??? All it does is degrade people. He is asking about his crank, not if you like how his truck looks or not.
