curiosity killed..well..me

so, here goes nothing. i think…

anyways, as most know im clearly new to this forum and to these cars. what is a fair price to pay for a 240 that needs some work. just off the top of my head the basic things that go bad on these cars body wise.

e.g frame rails, strut towers, and so on and so fourth.

what would a fair price be to pay for one that needs work? i
m not scared of a little work ahead of me but im just unsure what i should want to pay for a car that needs those types of things. so somebody please chime in and let me know what YOU would pay.

thanks

Dave

For best idea on price id just read and look at most f/s ads as they will give u a general idea of worth.

$200-$500 depending on milage

however, having done the reapirs you’ve mentioned, you’d be better of spending $2500 on a US or JDM chassis, then spending the extra $2000 on; sand/blaster, welder, epoxy primer/equip, and a air comp…hoist etc…

^… Dont spend any more than a couple hundred bucks on a rust bucket.

so most of the folks on here selling cars that need rails and ask like 2G’s for them are mental lol??

people over price 240’s way too much these days, especially s13’s. i wouldn’t pay over $1k for a 240 that needs frame rail work and such. even that’s pushing it.

^ do u not want the value of ur shitbox to go up?
lol

i dont plan on buying a 240 til next spring/ early summer. so i want to see the ins and outs of these things. ive looked over 240’s at the wreckers and they don’t seem overly complicated to do. i just don’t wanan have another incident like my current daily where i drop a grand on it, it fails safety and e-test i gotta put 500$ into it just to get it road worthy.

do you drive a honda at the moment by any chance?

haha well duh!

also, if you have til next spring/summer you will have plenty of time to find one that isnt a piece of shit. if you look hard enough, you can always find an old person or whatever that is selling one. usually a pretty clean one for a good price, because to them it’s just a 20 year old car that isn’t worth much. personally i wouldn’t buy one that needs frame rail work, i’ve always waited for clean ones to appear. you never know what other damage can be done to a car with fucked frame rails. chassis can be twisted and such.

lol no i don’t drive a honda. my t-shirt CLEARLY states “Friend’s don’t let friend’s drive honda’s”

i drive a 94 protege 1.8

if it needed an engine that wouldn’t bother me. there all over mega city wreckers. and while its out on a stand just go clean it all up new parts and whatnot

just go buy a jdm s13 or s14… its cheaper that way… fuck working on cars in freezing cold with portable heater. lol

jdm silvia, powerfc done good to go lol

lo im used to working on cars in -0 weather. 2 years ago did the diff in my protege in december when it was like -20 out. there i am in the garage bustin away no heat. well no good heat. used my heatgun inside of an old manifold sorta worked for the fingers,

Dont buy a 240, they suck

well you may think they suck, but perhaps you don’t have the proper means to make one not suck. any car stock sucks.

not to be a dick, i’m just sayin’

Car does not suck stock.

I was just kidding about 240’s being shit, I have owned one for 4 years and am on this forum, so I obviously do not think they suck.

Buy my s14 problem solved lol

1000 needing work. 2500 clean -s13 stock , s14 stock 5speed- 1500 needing work. 3500+ clean

We have 2 or 3 THAT NEED WORK… aka, rotten, dont run, and broken windows that Im sure we could gladly sell you for under $1000 :)…
I even have one that was converted to a truck. Shes all yours for $500 bucks.

I paid $200 for mine 3 months ago and put about 3k in so far just to say today finally it needs nothing. Nothing ish. No wait. Need rotted power steering line looped…see?
