people who say that are not interested in buying, they just want to know the price.
in all honesty, i ask this sometimes, but not on stuff i am 100% commited to buy. It’s only for things i would buy if they were super cheap. So in essence, dont take it that seriously.
on the flip side, some people are just that bad at negotiating that they have to resort to that line right off the bat.
price it a little higher than u want to actually sell it for and that way when they ask for the lowest price be give them the actual price and they’ll feal like they brought u down on the price.
haha btw, not sure if someone on SON sent me this on purpose but I just got this email like 10 mins ago.
"From: brad_w04@hotmail.com

"
This is regarding my Hyundai for sale that I put up in Kijiji.ca
Just give them some bs super low price. Then when they come out and look at the car, say you’ve had too many offers and the price went up. That way you can waste his time too, and likely his gas money…
Maybe he is just being reasonable, when I go to look at a car with serious intent - I rarely ever pay what the asking price is. Not because I am a lowballer, but often because the car was upsold to me in the ad as being “mint” or in “perfect working order” and I get there and suddenly the car has 12-15 different flaws/imperfections and was “upsold” to me before I seen it in person.
Maybe the guy is coming from further away and doesn’t want to get there and find out some surprises?
Either way - Its insulting I find to get lowballed or asked for a lower price before the item is viewed. I’m less offended if someone asks if the price is negotiable.
Note after looking at the Kijiji ad myself I’d say that car is worth your price, hell I’m even considering it.
I say that a lot because I can’t negotiate for shit. You tell me what’s the lowest you’ll take, and then if I’m willing to pay it, I come by, if not, I don’t. That way I don’t waste my time going to look at stuff for more money than I want to pay, or insult anyone by lowballing them.
This is true when your buying parts, but for a car, you have to see it before you buy it. No one wants to invest into something as big as a car without seeing exactly what their getting.
