For your anti-walmart people

not good enough. try again.

How about don’t work at long enough to make a career out of it?

Fair enough but what would you consider the timeline for being treated like shit? 1 year, 2 years…5 years? At what point do you say, “ok how you treat your employees is not right”.

Remember they are the countries number one employer.

PS: Lets not forget the number of seniors that work there.

and that really covers what went wrong at GM… the unions turned what should have just been low level jobs into a careers.

This is what I am getting at…

No working on an assembly job or factory has always been a career. Simply look at the history of labor. Henry Ford paid his employees well to have them continue working for him and not some where else. Looking at the generations of auto workers who clothed and fed their families with that job.

Working 40 hours at a plant should allow you to earn a living and provide for your family.

Don’t get me wrong however, as I said, there are problems with the UAW, but those problems should not be categorized to unions in general.

I’m talking about a union for Walmart not GM, and they would not be the same.

What do you guys consider to be a career? If retail and manufacturing should not constitute a family supporting job then what does? Not everyone has the ability or education to get skilled jobs, nor should they have to. Families had been living on the salaries of sales clerks, manufacturing and other non skilled jobs since the creation of this country until companies like walmart decided they weren’t making enough money. I’m tired of everyone forcing college upon people who would otherwise be contempt with just making a reasonable wage in an unskilled job. There aren’t enough jobs for all the college educated people in this country as it is.

If you haven’t noticed un skilled labor is going away in the US…because it is no longer profitable…

And don’t think im forcing college on people…I didn’t finish and I am doing pretty well…

LZ, what do you do?

I’d really like people with unskilled jobs to be able to survive on them without stealing my shit, using my welfare benefits, or having to half-ass their way through a degree and end up stuck working with me.

Systems/Network Engineer…

People are lazy…I was detailing cars 4 years ago and I worked my ass off to get where im at now…I get job offers weekly from other companies trying to recruit me…I also make more then most of my friends with 4 year degrees…

what kind of welfare benefits do YOU have?

none. the portion that i provide. Mine end up going to underemployed wal-mart employees that get fucked.

only if you can do it for the same rate as in mexico or even china. if not, you’re working with a poor business model and will fail. we’ve propped up this broken system for way too long, how could it ever really work???

I don’t want to get into your personal life but how exactly did you get this job and what do you do?

I knew what you meant… so what you’re saying is that if these jobs paid more then those employees wouldn’t have to get government assistance? so in essence I pay walmart employees to be able to support their families… and walmart doesnt really pay taxes. hmmm

Worked my ass off…Found an entry level job and kept working my ass off…I mean honestly in the past 3-4 years…I ran the IT department @ Sabres…I worked in the Pentagon…and now I run a data center…

I think people simply lack motivation and expect to get a hand out…I know a bunch of people with 4 year degrees who moved back home and do nothing…

I guess the outcome here is that this country is fucked. Since MOST of the jobs in the country are unskilled and no one is willing to pay to make them worth living off of get ready to pay for these people through welfare.

For all of you that complain about welfare your not helping anything since you think there is no reason to give these people a livable wage.

I guess you guys just want our country to be like Mexico since you admire their labor setup so much more over our own.

Unskilled jobs are leaving America…Nothing is going to change that as long its cheaper to produce things in other countries…

Adjust your plans accordingly

You guys act like this is something new…Its been heading that way for years now…

walmart is not cool
cash register not a skill
get minimum wage
