I don’t see walmart being outsourced. Which is what this thread was about and why they need a union.
fuck walmart, the FREE PR they got was worth way more than the little bit of tax savings they could have. cold and calculating move if you ask me …
Really? OP:
Don’t honestly try to make the point that
1.) Walmart isn’t outsourced - something like 70%+ of their goods are imported. Generally from rather harsh sources to boot.
2.) That retail space positions could be outsourced. I understand you want to make a point, but that’s just pathetic.
I;m talking about the positions in the store not the goods sold in it.
It scares me that you teach the youth.

How the fuck do you outsource a sales rep in the store? Do you hire illegals?
There are plenty of things you can outsource in retail: Logistics (truck fleet/ drivers), Tech/Repair/Custodial (everything from cleaning the store to electricians to IT), outsourcing doesn’t necessarily mean “move jobs to India” just because you hear about that as a common example, it could just mean “hire contractor X” who you now don’t have to pay social security or medical (because in theory they have to for THEIR employees, but they usually employ part-timers as a loophole).
I get that, I’m talking about the people in blue shirts in the store that restock the shelves, unlock the cases to get you the games, the ones on the registers, or mixes the paint in hardware, or assemble the bikes in toys and so on and so forth.
How can you outsource those people?
Answer: You can’t.
And those are the people that I have been saying since this thread started that need a union because they get shit on by walmart.
I love the notion that working at Walmart can be a career.
“You know you’re a redneck when…”
The problem is that or many it is…
They don’t hire kids.
It’s not that companies “aren’t willing to pay” people to make a living off of their salaries. It’s the fact that they can’t pay them that much, or else they simply won’t be competitive with their rival companies who aren’t paying their workers enough to live on. The American consumer is 100% to blame, plain and simple. Whomever sells their shit the cheapest wins. The only way to sell shit dirt cheap is to underpay (cut payroll), outsource, etc…
For all of you that complain about welfare your not helping anything since you think there is no reason to give these people a livable wage.
I would say that for the most part, the concept of welfare is very good, it’s execution and enforcement is horrific. That is the part that everyone bitches about. There are cases in which it is very beneficial, but then there are hundreds more cases in which the people exploit it, and that needs to stop.
I guess you guys just want our country to be like Mexico since you admire their labor setup so much more over our own.
Mexico sucks
Those people should seek a career, not a job. There is a huge difference between the two.
My roommate in college worked there when he was 20…
how can the richest retail store in the world not pay more than minimum wage…?
rant below is just a list of facts…
When I was a retail assistant manager I worked with mostly career retail associates. Only cashiers were teens. All of our non salaried associates made between 7.15 and 16 bucks an hour. Thats not just cashiers. Thats department managers, loss prevention, HR manager, cash management. Anyone making over 10 bucks an hour had been there 15 plus years. 30 years got you around 16 an hour. LP manager made 57k(12 years) Salaried managers made 32k(30 years) 36k(15years), 45k(40 years) and the store manager made 54k(20 years) Our entire non salaried salary was less than our two pharmacists made.
To bad it doesn’t count for most of the people they hire. Take a look at how many seniors they hire.
x2 Thank you.
Most of the people arguing against a union don’t know anything about working at walmart and should simply stay out of this thread.
So now your argument is senior citizens who are under paid and also collect social security?
Unions had their place…they are no longer needed…
What do you think a union at walmart would accomplish?
same thing that they accomplished at GM? except the work is 1000x easier and the people hence 2000x lazier
I don’t care if you think what Wal Mart does is right or wrong. The bottom line is they economically bloodlet the communities they move into, and funnel money out of our economy.
How is online shopping on the internet any different?
to let everyone know i will only be going to walmart for black friday
