-Be the first to do it.
-High, quick revving
-4G63 is same size, proven motor with small displacement.
-Because they can
all that work, time, effort to install a hyundai motor in a 240sx ? thats just dont sound right.
whats so good about being the first to do a swap like that… I could put a civic motor in a 240sx, whoop de shit. Hopefully its never been attempted lol… anyways… so they have a new motor with potential problems that they choose over a 4G63? SR is also high / quick revving, has way more aftermarket support and would have costed way less… hell if they went with an SR they could have done rebuild and turbo with supporting mods.
I dont accept those points because they can and being first as valid reasons and Japanese with Korean… Jarean? Kopan? Wth man…
Maybe you don’t accept these points because you’ve never pioneered anything but some people see that as a valid reason. I’m fitting a Z33 6MT to a KA-t because I can, will be the first, and will most likely make money off selling trans adaptors/conversion kits.
LS1 into 240 - is that americanese, japerican? Wth man… Ppl have put honduh motors into 240’s. F20, H22, all without crazy issues - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5sdzz_drift-team-belzebuth-dub200-korneus_auto (white car is H22 powered)
They may have a new motor with potential problems. Fix them. They may also have a new motor that has potential awesomeness and they will be the guinea pigs for the car world.
I don’t accept you shutting down possible progress in the car world, i would give them props for thinking outside the box, and possibly opening up a new motor to the scene that kicks SR’s ass.
But that’s because you’re ignorant.
I think there are plenty reasons not to do this swap, like the cost, practicality, etc… but bigotry sure as shit isn’t one of them.
To the OP, do what you want, but this pic has always summarized my views on uniqueness:
Ricers/losers seek to be unique, winners seek to be effective.
Lol ^ yea I never wanted to do it. Just got thinking about it because whenever I read something about this motor the sr is mentioned.
Yea really
replace a 2.0T with a 2.0T
fucking INCREDIBLE waste of money!
^qft
lol but if it was a 4g63… those lil motors kick ass (lol no not just because i got a dsm)
you beat me to it!
yes in fact i own a 180sx with a SR20det, it puts out to the flywheel at factory new 205 hp and 203 torque, roughly, the hyundai puts out about 195 hp and 175 tq. and its new. therefore SR>hyundai
also yes the hyundai engine is the same as the 4g63, BUT! is extremely different (oxymoron yeah?) it is constructed different and totally de tuned, why would Mitsu give a competitor an awsome engine? it is alot worse than the evo engine, so what would be more usefull, get the hyundai tranny and the evo engine, there you go. but i say stick with SR20, the reason why they are quick reving is an equal bore and stroke
forget hyundai motors/trannys, no matter what the quality increase
not just the hyundai tranny, point was, that way you have a rwd good 4gs3, but also the bellhousing for a rx7 tranny will fit up to the 4g63 with little mods iirc, either way, i say fuck the genesis, go sr20 if you want a quick reving turbo 2 l 4 cyl.
heh speak of the devil. Yesterday I was reading about an rx7 powered by a 4g63
^^ now thats realllly wrong… rx7 only deserves rotary. if you dont like that damn triangles dont ever buy one.
to me if the mod is out of family line up i wont even look at it.
nissan should have nissan in it. mazda should have mazda in it. and hyundai should have hyundai in it.
I’m really tempted to read what Ahmed wrote, because for once, I’m convinced it can’t possibly be stupider than what you just did.
Why wouldn’t you couple the best chassis with the best motor? Why would you accept something inferior for… irrational emotional reasons?
The RX-7 only deserves an LSx V8, because it gives it the powerband and reliability to match the fantastic chassis and suspension. The rotary is a beautiful engineering experiment, and brilliant in its elegance and simplicity. But in practice, it’s shit.
It belongs in a classroom, to teach young engineers about creativity, and also that a great design without great execution is nothing.
like i said above it was my point of view on modding cars.
but with that much time getting 50 50 balance with v8 in a small bay import will cost more time and trouble then putting a 20b in it pushed back a little. (minus the hell time of wiring that lol)
well thats my point of view.
if someone buys an rx7 they bot it cause they like the rotary. if your not a big fan of rotary should stay way from it.
creativity is good but i dont like putting vett in any kind of import.
rotary will need more attention from the owner but thats for part of being a rotary owner imo.
350z with 5.6 motor is respectable since they kept it in nissan family line up. but i would seriously spit on a 350z with vett in it.
flame me if you guys want but i wont change my mind anytime soon till i get some dirt in my eyes lol lol lol
That’s not true at all! I’ve always wanted an RX-7, but what’s stopping me from buying one is the fact that I have to spend more money, to take out the damn rotary, and put in a V8.
It doesn’t upset the balance of the car at all, and fits in really easily. In fact, in an FC, it’s such a perfect an easy swap, it’s downright funny.
This swap has nothing to do with creativity, and everything to do with practicality. I’m the first person to say that creativity is for homoes. The LS1 gives you great bang for your buck, an amazing powerband, it is very light weight, and very reliable.
do wat ever the heck you want.
wheee ha god damn hill billys
Wanting a modern, lightweight, all aluminum powerplant that makes more power per lb mass much more reliably than the piece of crap rotary you keep blabbing on about, makes me a hillbilly?
You sir, are an ignorant mother fucker. If there was anything cheaper and better, I would put that in instead. I hate domestics, always have, always will. But I understand that the LSx is pretty much the best thing you can put into a car. There’s a reason people are putting it into damn near anything nowadays. It has nothing to do with trends, or that it’s “hip”. It just works well. It’s effective.
to start i didnt call you a hill billy. i was calling who ever that puts american block into a japanese import a hill billy.
if you dont like the motor that came with the car why bother buying it. (240sx with rb is out of question since its a nissan line up)
dont like a rotary? dont buy a rx7 or rx8.
its like buying a lambo knowing its a v12 that will cost you 100 bucks in oil alone(i dont even know what filter they use lol) and crying about how much it cost to do maintence.
if your a broke ass who cant keep up with the bills rotary motors gonna toss at you dont buy one. (thats why i didnt even bother with rx7 right after i blew that motor after 30 min of having fun)
btw i can lift up a 13b all buy my self bet you i cant do that with ls1 lol your an such a joker to say “It doesn’t upset the balance of the car at all”
same thing as ae86 with 2jz s gonna happen to that poor rx7.
rx7 is such a sick turning machine cause of the 50:50 balance… 20b throws the balance off a little never mind the v8.
please do some research b4 you call me a ignorant mother fucker.
if you can lift that ls1 ~7 block all by your self then feel free to call me a ignorant mother fucker.
