My theory is: Street racing + stupid people = Danger
I have seen more accidents happen due to stupidity more then anything. Instead of going after street racing they should go after the real cause that causes death on out roads. Things like driving while under the influence of alcohol, or drungs or even fatigue, speeding, unsafe lane changing, seatbelts and my favorite people driving slow in the passing lanes, those people are the cause of most accidents if you ask me.
At the same time they should be improving road conditions to avoid accidents, our roads are terrible!
How often do you hear of a street race gone wrong when two guys lined it up in some industrial section in the middle of no where on some nice summer midnight ?
The only time street racing goes wrong is when irresponsible stupid people that can’t drive decide to race in and out of traffic or race in a area where there are other streets where cars could turn out of.
…Anyway on a brighter note I embarrassed a guy with a H22 powered Honda CRX last night. Who witnessed it? Only me and the guy I was racing. Why? Because it was done safe.
the police have never helped me in ANY WAY whatsoever. Stolen car? THey didnt even file a report.
So I really could give a shit about them, and frankly if im dying pigs are the last people i expect to help me. An innocent bystandard will stop by and help way before a stupid pig will.
If you had seen half the shit i have seen you’d be in teh same position as me. I’ve been pulled over for driving perfectly sanely and had guns pulled on me, ive had cops pull me over while towing my car asking if i was in a biker gang because they thought OMG WTF meant “Outlaw Biker Gang - Fuck The World” (WTF bakckwards). I’ve had cops screaming at me and telling me i’m a useless peice of shit meanwhile their buddy comes up in a hyundai tiburon and the cop just tells me to fuck off instead of giving me tickets because he wants to chill with his buddy.
THe reason im pissed now is because the definition of racing in the HTA is not only racing someone else it also includes racing THE CLOCK. What does that mean?
Well that means if another jackass pig comes up to me after i just enjoyed an empty off ramp all to myself then he could charge me with racing - EVEN THOUGH there was no one around and there was no danger. So you could get a criminal driving charge and have a CRIMINAL RECORD because you drove around an on ramp faster than a peice of shit corrupt cop thought was acceptable.
I have no problem with getting in trouble for doing stupid things. But i have a problem with corrupt authority getting even more power.

Who witnessed it? Only me, the guy I was racing, his two friends and my friend. Why? Because it was done at a safe place in a safe way with no other cars around and no other streets leading into that street in the middle of the night in the middle of no where…but yes it still wasn’t as safe as it would be on a track with emergency crew near by, I know that.
Anyway my point that they should be cracking down on people that are caught in the act and are putting other peoples life at risk racing in and out of traffic or unsafe areas not cracking down responsible people just because they have modified cars.

I do disagree with the whole “fuck the police”. If a cop pulls you over for no reason and starts to talk shit about you, keep it cool. I really, really doubt that a cop will continue to be an asshole if you just sit there and zone out, respond INTELLIGENTLY and CALMLY to their questions.
I guess that the “golden rule” (Do to others as you wish to have done to yourself) has been forgotten by many people (often myself included). But, when it comes to someone who has power over you (as much as you dislike it) it is definetly not a good idea to mirror their actions. In fact, it will defuse a situation very quickly if you stonewall their attacks on your character.
For example, I work in the customer service for a drugstore. People yell, scream, complain, insult, curse at me EVERYDAY. Am i offended? Hell yeah. But I dont get paid to respond back with anger. I just keep calm, respond with a steady voice.
Why do I take their verbal abuse? Because, I GURANTEE that they will have a shitty day and fume over my lack of emotion concerning their problem.
If a cop is a dick to you, there isn’t a damn thing useful you can do about it. Yelling back makes them angry at you, something you do not want.
Lets do some math:

actually cops can charge you with reckless, dangerous and a bunch of other negligence based offenses if they so desire and if they need something to stick when they know they don’t have a real case
so about the only thing you can do is be respectful, call them “sir” and such, if you need to refuse something, do it politely, remember in the eyes of the law their opinion is almost considered evidence, and as they usually have a partner there’s two supporting opinions vs. yours
you have to be mildly passive agressive with them, but without going so far as to be infuriating or contemptuous, if you are articulate and can reason with them you can slow down and diffuse their hostility, the longer you spend with the cop the less likely you’ll be screwed, the key here is removing the ENEMY nametag on your forehead
and as for everyone’s opinion how to stay low key, absolutely, drive with seatbelts on, drive sitting upright, no 138db music and 108db fart cans… these things go a long way to keeping you off their radar

as for the actual reckless drivers, they always seem to be driving buicks or other stock underpowered sedans and screaming by others for no reason, or the maniacs on the highway that have to get 1 more car length in rush hour or they’ll die

my only complaint with the roads for the most part is how lanes disappear, lane changes are the single most dangerous regular event on a highway, people with no peripheral vision or visual spacing ability trying to wedge their 16 foot long car between two others while going 30k/h less… ugh

I actually was pulled over on the way back from windsor one day, after like a 5min chat with the cop about me and the car (k-car, hot, tiring day) he parted with the words something like “oh and btw you were doing 127 I was following you” at which point I had to correct him saying if my k-car was doing 127 my steering wheel would have been shaking like a jackhammer and theres no way I was… but anyway he was just trying to justify his stop

This is not to excuse street racing without consequences but at the same time - dangerous driving comes in many ways. Not sure if anyone has had a several run ins with older drivers going 50 cutting from the left across red lights, changing lanes in “faith” without looking, etc.
But if government is so touchy about street racing cases potentially causing accidents, what will it do about senior drivers who for such a small group account for quite large percentage of accidents. Knowing this - should they pick on “street racers” and seniors?

I believe in equality - you should cut two nuts off instead of 1 for balance or slap the hands and put some program into action that works. By the way - speaking of car enthusiasts - when you slap on a turbo and/or mess with emissions / brakes / etc. - modify the car outside the specs putting your “pro mechanic skills” to the test by safely driving that “beast” on public roads with other people around - is that fair to others and safe as well? Has your car been safety / crash tested with your new mods? That false sense of security is the same crap street racers can use to explain their actions - because “they know what they’re doing”. Let’s be fair…
