Help with internet issues

Right now, im at a cat5 from pc to router and the ip is at 0.0.0.0 and wont renew

Its a laptop and no i dont

You are set with obtain IP automatically correct?

As Justin mentioned, are you getting link? How about a light on the router indicating that port is filled.

everything is set to automatically obtain.

The light shows as filled as well as a blinking yellow im assuming is showing packets being transferred

dude, just because other computers on the router are working, doesn’t mean it won’t need to be reset. If the DHCP server in the router has gone south, the computers that have already received IP leases will still work.

JUST RESET THE FUCKING THING REAL QUICK

hold the little button down for 30 seconds, unplug the power cable, then reboot your computer

You have two networks on one router?

wireless and wired, is the only thing i can think of.

they should be the same

how many routers do you have hooked up?

looks like you may have a rouge

+1 on router reboot…

I would also be interested to see the output of arp -a on the current working machine

+1

Should be the same network

reset router and ip address appeared in cmd

ipconfig shows

Ethernet adapter local area connection 5

Can you change the DNS server to 192.168.1.1? Although if you’re not getting an IP the DHCP server might be incorrect.

one router and one cable modem

Edit: Billys how would i got about doing that?

uh let me look…I don’t quite remember on XP as I’m on Vista…I’m not sure if that’s it.

i appreciate all the help thusfar but after resetting the router and cable modem, im still stuck. which blows

Ips are established, IE still does not complete getting to a website

Pings are functional with only a 25% loss of packets.

So you have a valid IP now… and can’t browse.
How about browsing by IP?

Yea, and the internet controller on the taskbar shows its connected, but with little to no connectivity.

Its like its there, but barely.

Ipconfig /all
