As a public servant, they should be able to perform their duties and expect to be recorded doing so. There is no reason for them to expect or require privacy while performing a public service. ESPECIALLY since any other citizen of this country cannot legally prevent someone from recording them in a public setting when no privacy is expected.

If they are abusing their power, they must be held accountable. Once we lose the ability to keep the police and others in authority in check, then we’ve lost pretty much everything. A government/military/police force without any checks on it’s behavior will become corrupt.

You can’t have a police state without the police.
