I am not mistaken. I support hundreds of macs and pcs daily at UB. PC problems are all user issues (user is too dumb to figure out how to do it right). Mac problems are always cross-platform compatibility issues.

I just discovered the joy of widgets
[/quote]
Yea… they really rape your mem though. When i boot my comp, i have right under 1gb used, and NOTHING opened yet… haha… Dam you 50,000 widgets!
I’m a graphic designer, photographer, videographer - and I am also very much a computer power user (know my way around unix/terminal/cmd-line well, permissions, security and the like). The PC just plain sucks at, well… all that I want it to do, so it was a no brainer. Coupled with the fact that Macs ARE pretty much better-built PCs with a better OS at this point (and can still run Windows either natively or emulated if needs by) it was a no brainer for me.

I am just saying… other than the WMV issue, which I fixed, I have had no issues, so it makes me curious as to what problems others have.
Are the macs you support running tiger?
BTW, I think we passed you on Kenmore this morning.
I have both a PC and a mac at home, as well as at work… they’re both good for certain things, basically the only way to win is to have both
Having both for the win.
I made this post to see if morons buy macs because they buy into the hype. Mac vs PC is like BMW vs Honda - they both make good cars, and each serve their purpose. Honda makes some faster cars than BMW and vise versa. They both go from point A to point B. You can race both of them. Are the interchangeable? Not really. But I feel that, like some BMW owners, some Mac users think they are better than everyone else just because they own a Mac.

Let me tell you about that. We have a Dr. that put together a powerpoint presentation that he wanted to show in one of our nurning homes. None of the pictures would show up on any of our machines. He went on and on about how much better the macs were and how we should change. He brought his in for the next presentation and failed to realize there isnt a vga plug to hook it to a projector so again the presentation was done on my computer with no pictures. His issue with the pics on the presentation was a user problem but the lack of a vga port on his ibook was just stupid.
My problem with macs is they disassociate themselves so much from pc’s that they won’t work with hardware that is meant to be universal.

Because 90% of new computers don’t use VGA and use DVI now :bloated:

I should rephrase that then. It had neither.

for an ibook: you need a mini-vga -> vga adapter
for a macbook: you need a mini-dvi -> dvi adapter
He didn’t have either one. Its something he should have had with him but it just goes to show that people don’t know what they are getting into when they switch. They think it will work with everything because of the fucking commercials and its not true all the time.

If you are going into a presentation, most people know that projectors use VGA. Having a Mac, he should have known this and had the correct adapter. I believe some Macs come with the adapter now also.
yeah and i dont really agree with that they make you buy the plug to get it working.
i hate that they are so money hungry
I made the switch from PC to Mac about a year ago. I was looking to sell my PC laptop and get a newer one, and my dad was looking to buy a laptop just to watch some DVDs on, so I sold it.
While I was deciding what laptop I wanted to buy, I was using my boyfriends Mac mini. The more I played with it, the more I liked it. I plugged my camera into it…it just WORKED. I plugged my ipod into it, again, it just worked. I plugged my printer into it…it worked. Everything I plugged into it worked seamlessly, without errors, annoying pop ups every 5 minutes telling me I’ve plugged in a new device, drivers not working, etc. I’m sure there are things I could plug in that wouldn’t be as seamless…but everything I wanted to use just worked and was so user friendly that I ended up buying my first mac.
Over the last year, I think my computer has crashed maybe…twice? Three times? Very very few overall.

It has MiniDVI, which is > DVI.

man, you really suck. off course i use a firewall, however, I do not use any virus/malware protection on my mac.
personally. Ide rather live in a house that didnt have exploits like backdoors that are completely unlocked

lol keep on thinking that man.

its jsut smaller, same picture quality so having to buy an extra part makes mini dvi<dvi
 at people thinking Macs are the end all be all of safe computing…

60% of the time its true every time!
