96 and up is emmisions/safty/everything (obd2)
95 and older is obd1 Safty inspection only
and i think pre 73 is a whatever inspection lol.
And ive heard NYC inspections are just like obd2 no matter what you have. dont quote me though
no roadside inspections here (atleast not for cars and emmissions)
NYS DMV
Which vehicles must get the OBDII test?
The OBDII test is required for any gas-powered vehicle that is not exempt from emissions inspection and that:
Has a model year of 1996 or newer, and
Is more than two model years old, and

If a vehicle is a 1995 or older model gas-powered vehicle that is not exempt from emissions inspection the vehicle receives:
A high-enhanced emissions inspection if the vehicle is registered in the NYCMA, or
A low-enhanced emissions inspection if the vehicle is registered in the Upstate Area.
What motor vehicles are exempt from emissions inspection for gas-powered vehicles?

Vehicles that are less than two model years old, or more than 25 model years old (for example, a 1975 model in 2001).

Electric-powered vehicles.
Motorcycles.
Vehicles that are registered as farm equipment or that have historical plates.
Homemade vehicles or custom vehicles that are registered in the Upstate Area.
wow… maybe i need to lose the NJ plates and get NY reg and insurance… Im tired of paying 1300 a year for basic liability insurance on a car thats 14 years old… Plus paying 150 every 2 years for my car to “pass” inspection… Worst thing about NJ is the insurance rates… highest in the country… 2 years ago for a 95 240SX i was paying 3500 a year for basic liability… this year its finally down to 1300
Inspection is NJ is free if you take it to state inspection… If you go to a private garage that does state inspection its usually $72… however my street car will never pass because of 5% tint, Emissions, Exhaust noise, adjustable suspension… So i have to pay a private inspection to “pass” my car… usually 150 bucks… But even with a good sticker, i have to dodge the roadside inspections NJ sets up in the summer…
oh well your car has to be street legal to pass NJ inspection… so if the tint is illigal it = automatic fail… Same goes for any vinyl decals on the windows, neon lights ect… NJ inspection is a bastard… Youll even fail if your car has any rot that goes completely through a body panel
just get a NY reg. bring the car to goodyear and whalah it magicly passes hmmmm
yeah so what the fucking exhaust is going to be 2.5, im leaving the cat and we dont NEED to take the egr off, i like to have a clean bumper unlike the sentra its such a PITA and it leaves black shit everywhere
fuckin dickhead wants 60 bucks for a fucking tranny gasket and a shift knob just because its made of steel and he thinks it will cost like 20 to ship…starting to get pissed, i need 2 things. that gasket and the pilot bushing which is 4$ from nissan
than it can be put in but then we have a bunch of other shit to do after i pay car ins.
dan- after i get my taxes ill get those coilovers from you
what that slow? i hate it, i have literally done nothing all week
the trans is almost out, i gotta wait for jeff to get here with the replacement parts for my jack and then i have to finish taking the Xmember bolts out and unbolt the shaft
I expected this car to sit and rot for 2 years after you bought wheels that barely fit 50mm rear overs and tons of suspension parts then ran out of money for aero and 5 lug and then bought a motor that ended up being blown and needed a rebuild which you couldnt afford
