NICE BUILD

are you using stock wiring for the fuel pump? you should consider rewiring directly to the battery if not. allows the pump to actually work at it’s full efficiency

Thanks!

Yes, stock wiring for now. I’ve read about the efficiency tip from the company. I think it’ll be fine for now. There is no risk (that I know of) running it the way I have it hooked up. Eventually I will go through the whole body harness to clean it up and get rid of unnecessary shit. That’s when I’ll rewire it

Man, parts are arriving left and right. Brake lines are getting installed today once I get home from work. Just a few more things to take care of on the motor (mostly vacuum stuff) and I can drop her in! Finally!!! I think I’m going to mate it with the transmission 1st before dropping it in.

Also, it turns out the OBX pulleys I bought do not align with my crank pulley. Instead of correcting them, I said fuck it & removed them. My friend just started a small business w/ powder-coating things. So I’m just gonna drop my stock pulleys off with him and coat them with the same color as the VC - metallic red mmmmm

Cool, where’s he coating out of? Get himself a good sized oven yet? I dabble myself.

From what he told me, he just does it out of his garage. Not sure about the oven size. I’ll snag a photo or two if his setup once I’m there. He just ordered the color I wanted for the pulleys.

Onto the progress:

I fired up the heater in the garage yesterday after work and installed the Chasebays clutch and brake lines. These guys really did an amazing job on these. From length to fittings and of course looks, these lines are simply awesome to work with.

Small update:

The intercooler and radiator arrived today! The measurements I took came out perfect. Take a look for yourselves. Without the A/C you can fit a fat core in there no problem. I went with a 24"x12"x3.5" It was a snug fit! I mocked it all up, what do you guys think?

All I need to do now is to make some brackets for these and I can focus on buttoning up the vacuum lines on the motor. Then, finally take it off the stand (been on it for 3 years now…), install the flywheel/clutch & mount the transmission. Then it’s time to drop the bitch in!

ain’t it nice when your measurements work out correctly? lol

haha hell yea man.

So I came across a deal I couldn’t pass up. My wife and I are going to be owners of a ‘81 Honda CB650C. She needs a lil’ TLC but I’m up to the task. Got her for $400 and a 3-S LiPo battery lol

81 should be a cb650sc unless it’s an “81” model but manufactured before 10/1980…but solid ass score! get in touch if you need a hand with it at all, I’ve got 11 bikes under the knife right now hahahahaha

It very well might be an SC. I’ll double check that when I got to pick it up. I’m pretty pumped about it. It’s my very 1st motorcycle. But yea, I just might hit you up. I know these things are super easy to work on, which is why I got it.

if it ends up being a cb650c, then I have a few spare parts that may interest you…extra coils with plug wires, regulator/rectifier combo, and a rack of the PD50B carburetors. I have a frame too but no title to it or I’d assemble a bike from it all hahaha.

Sounds good. I will hit you up. I know I will need new shocks for it. They are pretty beat up.

Does anyone have a 37° tube flaring kit I could borrow? It has to be 37°. I need to redo my fuel line -AN conversion. I didn’t realize that the -AN fittings are 37° : /

Shit, looks like I’ll have to buy one…

Small update:

I took my plenum off of my intake and tapped the .410" hole left behind by the air regulator with 1/4" NPT. I will be using this hole to feed a vacuum line to the AEM boost controller via a -4AN SS braided line. I’m going to run dedicated vacuum lines to everything that requires vacuum: FPR, BMC etc. I’ll post a pic later.

I also got my pulleys back from powder coating. They look amazing, but came out a little darker than my valve cover. Oh well. I’ll probably end up coating the fuel rail with metallic black.

Also, I’m looking for someone who can weld aluminum…PM me if you’re local!!!

not really going to get any closer without having examples right next to the part your matching…that’s pretty damn good for picking a color off the internet or from a catalog on a hunch…

try giving Don’s welding on transit a call about aluminum welding…

That is true. I also suspect that the valve cover had gray primer used to lighten up the red. Not sure, I wasn’t there when they coated it. The pulleys were done by Dan as you may already know. He did a pretty good job on them.

So I picked up the bike yesterday! She runs, but rough. Seems to hesitate in the lower RPM range. The battery is dead. Over all, I really cant complain for $400. Here she is, before we put her on the truck:

Also, it was my bday on 5-1. The wifey got me a gift. The bike was also a bday gift from the family
