i got that inspection notice… and it pisses me off that no one will be safe with a modded car. honestly we need to get all the car clubs in the GTA and rally this and show the media/people/government NOT ALL MODDED CARS ARE STREETRACERS!!!
i wonder how many car clubs can we get into this? and drive down too Queens Park and just park all the cars around there and really show WE ARE NOT STREETRACERS!!! WE ARE CAR ENTHUSIASTS!!!
I was pulled over three times in two days when I got my son his 300ZX last summer (& no the NOS bottle was not installed). Due to his obvious mods, bright colour, paint job, etc, his car stands out. All three times the officers sort of stood back to think for a second, when they saw a 40 something old man at the wheel(They know us old F%&'s aren’t so easily intimitated). Besides speeding, I’ve NEVER been pulled over for mods in my normal coloured white ZX. What the hell is this summer going to be like for us!! Just ordered a SpecialtyZ Catback exhaust (because it’s not loud), but still aftermarket, what’s that going to cost me?? I am sure that there will be a HUGE rally at Queen’s park before the summer is over. I will make a point of being at it - as must we all - if 100 trucks can (legally) slow down traffic around Queen’s Park, imagine what 1000’s of performance cars can do!!
Letters can be written to the Minister of Transportation; I’ve done it before and they are obligated to read it and provide a response.
Here’s the site… Please remember to be mature and respectful when contacting his office; if we raise awareness in numbers it WILL get there attention.

we need to send the later and arrange a cruise with as much car clubs as we can get. also we need to make sure there is media there for coverage.
but seriously guys… I think its time to stop the talking and to go on the offensive…we need something huge to get our opinions across!!..im willing to go pretty far to keep our right to mod our cars!!!..
we need to come up with something quite significant to make the people of the GTA understand that we are not street racers!..and for the officers of the GTA to see the injustice that is happening to us!!!..
i propose a large cruise or something!..any thoughts?..we need to go on the offensive…SOOOOONN!!
navin… :drivin
It’s simple…
Write lots of letters to the MPP’s and media to raise awareness of the issue…
Issue a press release to the media about 2 weeks in advance with full details of what we are protesting, why, where and what time we will be there AND most important; who to contact for questions.
I think a formal submission for a permit to protest must be submitted… the obvious place is around Queens Park on a Friday starting early morning… This would have to be well organized and controlled; yahoo’s doing burn outs/racing will throw all efforts down the toilet!
If there are friendly popo we know, industry experts etc maybe they can help as well… Anything to make our plight look legitimate in the eyes of the media
im willing to help to arrange this!..ill do whatever…
Mitch: since you do have the contacts with the star from your article, i think you should head this up…
ill help you arrange it man!!
naivn
Thanks Navin! "D
Laurance Yap was contacted about this… As well I’ve already submitted my complaint to the Minister of Transport…
OMVOC should really be heading this one up… I’m just here to help… :R
I agree totally, I have been preaching, and working on this DAILY, but we do need numbers, with the resources behind us we can make a positive difference on the streets. Ontario Modified Car Owners have been getting the short end of the stick for far too long - from the irresponsible Police to the greedy mistrusting insurance companies. We need a voice and OMVOC would like to be that voice for you, we will make our voices heard LOUD and CLEAR at Queens Park and Ottawa.
PM Me or email me with your suggestions, and like someone posted before we can be found at www.omvoc.com
Thanks guys and hang in there!
Jeff
Now is the time for OMVOC to step up, use your existing resources to plan a rally at Queens Park, let the car clubs know and the car clubs will step up and join… Make joining OMVOC a part of participating in the rally… you will then get the numbers you need. My $0.02 :C
I really dont get this… attacking modified car owners? i remember going to a thing on street racing deaths that was heald by the police and all sorts of mangled cars were there that youngsters had been killed in. they werent modified at all, they were just bone stock shit boxes with manual transmissions… 89 civics, geos… the only street racing fatality that i can think of is that taxi driver that was killed by those 2 rich teens racing their parents’ bone stock mercedes after watching tokyo drift.
honestly… the media glorifies this stuff, then demonizes it.
If anything, most modified cars are safer then stock. upgraded tires, suspension and brakes can all be considered active safety features. in general, people who drive manual are more alert and aware of what they are doing on the road as well. this is why there is so much less congestion and accidents on european roads as opposed to north american… because only 2% of the vehicles there are automatic.
If the police created a unit to combat stupid mini van driving soccer moms in ontario, it would be be lucky to reduce the death count to 35 in 8 years…
I know I no longer visit this forum/club, but this goes above my personal ego. Please read and express your voice.

^ it has been noted… but this petition has been going on for that long!!
it’s not a mistake…
a little side story relating to vehicle fatalities and street racing …
so i’m reading some news articles on pulse24.com and come across this story:
summary: 5 people were killed in a head-on collision thursday night.
no disrespect to these individuals, as any life loss is tragic, but to me, if the weather was fine (no snow, rain, or other external factor) and someone becomes involved in a head-on collision, it’s most likely a fatal driver error which could have been the result of many different things such as inexperience, drugs, alcohol, etc.
just yesterday night before our 350z meet, i was driving south on don mills road near fairview mall (anyone that knows this area knows it’s a 3 lane ONE WAY road that curves around vanier secondary school). anyways, i was driving around the bend when a junker appears around the opposite side driving IN THE WRONG DIRECTION and coming at us. thankfully i was in the far right lane and he was in the middle, so i didn’t really need to swerve out of the way, but the point is, it could have been A LOT WORSE.
instead of focusing on the actions of a very small minority of idiot street racers on the road, which statistically speaking occupy a very small percentage of the overall fatalities on the road, why doesn’t the media or public concentrate on these BAD DRIVERS who drive in the wrong direction and cause head-on collisions?
5 deaths in ONE traffic accident. that’s the same as the TOTAL deaths caused by street racing FOR A YEAR.
Absolutely ridiculous.
In the financial perspective, ticketing modified vehicle is easy money for government. How often the cop see a drunken driver on road vs a modified vehicle. Think about it, instead of targeting an individual driving behavior, the cops only need to target the vehicle instead, and there you go. After i heard the news that our govn’t budget this year is going major deficit it further reinforce my view. Bottom line is, government just want to find ways to get easy money and profiling us for street racers. This is insane…
just a little addition to my story above …
in the span of ONE day, EIGHT more people have been killed in non-street racing related traffic fatalities :S
why isn’t the media all jumping on these stories and why aren’t advocacy groups jumping on the government to enact laws to stop these drivers who were most likely impaired or just plain inexperienced?
if there were eight deaths due to street racing in ONE day, YOU KNOW the media would be all over that story and parents groups would be screaming for tougher laws and more heavy fines
RIDICULOUS.
