Let me just start by saying that Kingston 2006 was one of the best trips/events I’ve ever been on. So many MR2’s from all over North america. Such a great time. Went up with Paul (BMWZ8Addict) in his MR2 Turbo. Took the QEW up there, then went through Massena, NY and many other small routes before going through all the Adirondacks and eventually hitting Utica where we took the 90 back in. All in all, drove about 1000 miles in 2.5 days. Such a great drive.
There were a lot of amazing cars, and I’m happy to say I placed 3rd in my class (90-99). The rain helped everyone a little bit with that, haha. Either way, here’s some pictures, I’m sure Paul will post more later, or I will when I upload more. Here’s a few…can’t wait for next years event.

yo man…congrats on that 3rd place…i told you at KB for our cruise that you have the cleanest MRduece i have ever seen… looks like a great time! congrats. bro…
I don’t know what you’re looking at, but they were very well done, fitment-wise. They’re from an FTO. But that’s a nice $.02 there, given all the other cars at the meet…guess you can’t always please everyone.
Adam, you seem to have a hang-up on the badges thing, as you mention them pretty much every time my car is referenced. I don’t know if you’re joking around or being a wise ass about it (the engine part too). You’re hard to read sometimes. But, whatever.
Anyways, thanks for the other comments. Hopefully I can get some other pictures up sometime soon.
I get a kick out of the Lotus badging, Im sorry. Your car is always so clean, I personally just think the badges ruin it. I know how much time you put into keeping the car mint, I just think the badges throw it off. Sorry.
I know how you dropped the new engine in there, and I know you probably spent a lot of time cleaning the bay out while the engine was removed. Im going to do the same thing. In fact Paul told me that your pristine engine bay basically got you third place, because like you said, the rain kind of made the exterior a “wash”. Sorry for the pun. But seriously, congradulations on placing that high.
Because it’s a mid engine car, stock turbo MR2s come with a tiny piece of shit sidemount IC. A common upgrade is to cut into the trunk and drop a huge bar and plate IC in there. It’s pretty simple and I’ll be doing one myself, since the only fab work is cutting through the rear firewall, stripping the trunk, and dropping the IC in there. There is already custom piping you can just buy off the shelf to mount to not just the stock intake manifold, but also aftermarket ones. The SPAL fans are just to do what normal fans on ICs do =) People also run huge A2W setups via the trunk. The only time the frunk is really used is to store the resevoir or n2o bottles.
Not that anyone has reason to care, lol, just thought I’d share.
It’s cool man, I just was not really sure where you were coming from. Some people like them, some hate them. I just did it bec. there was so much of Lotus involved with the original X100/MR2 concept. I’m a Lotus ricer, what can I say…there was even another guy that had them too on his 1st gen., a turboed one to boot…
Anyways, for anyone wondering, Adam is right. The stock intercooler is pretty jammed in the pass. side, so a lot of guys looking to go with big turbo set-ups relocate the intercooler and piping to the rear trunk. You can go huge with the int. and not have to worry about added engine bay heat.
Evidently he just did a shitty job with the weather strip around the lights. The fit still doesn’t look quite right but I like those headlights on that car.
I’m a little late adding these, but here are some more pics from the show and our drive back. We ended up taking rt. 56 to rt 3 from Massena and then to 76 or 78 to lake placid and then keene valley. Then we went 87S to rt 8 and 2 hours to Utica to take the 90 the rest of the way. We followed a motorcycle most of the way on rt 8 pretty quick on fun mountainish roads.
