there are going to be a ton of people that come into this thread and say “screw a mac” and i will say it along with them. What exactly are you using this computer for? and a low end machine like the toshiba is already obsolete…
wel i dont do video editing anymore since i made posimadness DVD so basically just excell spread sheets and word documents everyonce in a while but mainly internet/you tube and music like winamp
Mine is a Macbook Black, Core 2 duo 2.0GHz, 2GB DDR2 Ram, 120GB HDD, i bought it over a year ago… love it…
Never was a mac user before that, shit i am a windows system administrator, and after 15 years of windows, i wanted something different, and i love OSX now…
I dual boot via bootcamp with windows XP, so that i can still use HPTuners to write tunes to my car, but that is about all i use it for now outside of work.
I got a Toshiba Satellite for $400 from Circuit City after rebate. It’s not the fastest thing in the world, but it’s got an HD widescreen display and Vista, with a bump in Ram to 2GB it should cruise a little better.
I wouldn’t buy anything from Best Buy. They’re in direct competition with Circuit City and I usually find their prices are higher.
MY advice would be buy the macbook from an apple store, or i would say compusa but they are all but gone now, and buy applecare over best buy’s crap.
AppleCare was fantastic to me with the only issue i ever had, one day at the Norwin hills cruise i whipped my laptop out to fix a tune issue, and my battery was 100%, i plugged it in, and OSX said no battery detected.
So i called applecare on monday, was connected with a native english speaker within 2 minutes, another 2 minutes later he assured me i would have a new battery the next day… Sure enough a new battery was at my door at 8am.
