HP, IBM, Sony have much better products than all the rest. Every company has bad ones that go out the door but the warranty and service is much better on the 3 I listed. Try calling Dell for support if something breaks.
and I’ve heard a lot of bad things about Sony. I’ve never overspent enough on a PC to own one, but I have a friend who was always mailing his VAIO back for repair.
Gateway has a fantastic warranty. I punched out my display on my last laptop and they still covered it.
gateway is horrible. to even compare gateway to lenovo/ibm or hp is just dumb.
I have busted screens before on a dell, hp, and sony and all have been covered. But the time it took and the hastle I went thru was a lot less with hp and sony.
These pissing matches are why I said what I said. It’s all about personal experience with the respective companies, and that’s different from person to person.
If I had to suggest a brand based on the build quality and warranty that I’ve experienced first hand, I’d say go with Lenovo or HP. HP / Compaq had the shittiest products up until about a year ago when their merger was complete. They have some solid products now, and an easy to deal with warranty. Lenovo have always had very stout and dependable machines, and they cover them well.
well if its all about personal experience…there is a gateway from 1999 in my basement that STILL runs…only thing that failed was the monitor which was replaced back when i still had a warranty. My main computer WAS a compaq before i stripped and rebuild…the board remains but thats it. When i worked at best buy all i ever saw at the geek squad counter for repairs where hp’s and compaqs(same company). emachines…lmfao…gateways…eh i used a few that i liked…no complaints…IBM…no complaints. Sony…hmm…you pay for the name as usual with them. Toe-Shi-Baaaahhhhhh…my mom owns one…VERY nice laptop IMO…no complaints…except windows PISta
sure…failed hard drives are user issues and/or software issues
on a side note a handful of toshiba laptops came in with overheating problems when i worked there.
Hp laptops where prone to bad power jacks(computer side not cord side)
again…i am stating truth from working there…the machines i referred to that came in for repair where physically BROKEN and/or had FAILED components, these do NOT include machines coming in for virus removal, spyware removal, software suite installs or anything of the such.
yepp…thats why i bought myself a macbook for a christmas present and i absolutely love it. I run boot camp when i need to use windows programs but i have microsoft office:mac on here so i really dont use boot camp much.
i love my toshiba i have had two laptops and loved both satalites there fast reliable and i havent f*&^ed mine up yet lol if you have the boot up disk you can just wipe the hard drive and put windows back on and it will get rid off all the years of porn bugs for ya lol
Being the PC users ecompass most of the market, most of the creators of viruses and spyware tend to target PCs. There is crap out there you can get on your MAC, but it’s very rare at the moment.
