how retarded is it that you have to have a dualboot to run some software that only runs on windows. Mac’s are good for surfing the internet and typing up a resume, if you actually want to use the computer, you need windows.

ummm theres a program called parallels that puts xp in a window so you can be on osx AND xp at the same time, also macs are superior in video and image editing. All the programs i use are all compatible for macs i even have microsoft office for mac which has every program the windows version dose so in reality, if you just surf the internet and use aim windows laptops are great but if you actually want to do some serious stuff macs are superior

why try to say that you don’t care, opinion is opinion when you clearly do… macs are great, they are shiny and the desktop menu bar bubbles… but really they do lack … simply put the lack of directory services kills them natively on windows or even unix authenticated networks… simple shit like offline logon is a pain in the ass and not tight(standard and repeatable)… they are not networkable workstations,they are one off junk for people that want something neat.
macs are beat… they have a referb sale with hardware over 30% off and i won’t buy them… price is still too high… i’m sure they are superior for whatever you find to be important but the realistic computer base for all the computer companies are corporations… you buy 2 macs they buy 200 (to accompany their 1000’s of windows machines :kekegay: ) … so yeah… the lack of easy integration will always kill the hype… it takes engineering level people to work processes into companies to actually be able to make macs work functionally on a network… which is absurd, it should be point and click… 100% natively supported.
not to mention mac has a keen way of packaging and selling bsd :beat:
natively authenticate to a network, access, modify and save files in a usr directory, go home and log on locally(off network) and access those files.

fusion for macs is a better solution… boot windows within osx… vmwares product. i use my power pc to rdp to windows machines and to write shell scripts. extremely practical use for a $3000 workstation lol
don’t get the mac… if you’re going to spend money do it right… my favorite notebooks are thinkpads… they are generally more expensive… i have dell and hp’s… i would go with hp if you want better quality of the latter, or ibm (lenovo) if you want to spend cash… i ordered an hp and it was built and shipped from china to the door within 2 weeks.

comming from you this is serious. I will only take a computer nerd ( no offense ) input versus reg joe. I dont deal with this crap on a daily basis. Ill prolly go with a toshiba for 1/2 the price since i have nothing but good things with my toshiba. Or if i can finda hp that i like ill go that route. I had 2 old HP desktops that were junk though. But i wont deal them out just yet.

so we have the people that work with computers everyday saying macs are junk and ibm/hp is the way to go and then casual users who say a mac and toshiba’s are good. If I was looking to get something, I would take the advice of the “experts”.
