New Drive Clean tests

Yea… the whole “taking a picture of you” thing doesn’t make sense. I’ve took other family members cars and even friends cars for etests when the vehicle isn’t even registered to me. So having my picture on file for a car that doesn’t even belong to me defiantly does not make any sense.

lol has anyone actually gone to get their license? you take 3 pictures, vin, cluster and rear plate. your not being “watched 24/7” you can chat with them on the machine via webcam and headset if there are problems. anything older then 98 is 2 speed idle (you have the option when you get the machine to get the sniffer) if you have more than 2 codes you fail. and if you have 1 emission related code you fail

soooooo where is the vin number on my engine… ive taken lot of KA’s apart and have never found the vin number.

Is every post you make completely retarded in EVERY way? Just wondering. Your worse than the dumbass delroy

Although that was not all correct ^ I have heard that photos of the vehicle and the VIN tag in the door jam will be taken

also there will be cameras monitoring every drive clean inspection. (of course whether there is always someone watching on the other end I highly doubt, but cameras will be in place.)

they dont take a pic of the engine. only vin on window or door

worst comes to worst put a cat on the day you have to do a 2 speed idle test lol.

i figured that… but that guy was saying how they take the picture of the vin on your engine! hell i dont even think there are vins on 240 engines!

haha, some of the shit people in this thread have said is jokes.

At the end of the day, you can always go to a legit shop and get a legit hod rod etest done.

If you are tricky I am sure you could wire your car to show good numbers HAHA or even make a dummy port that runs a program to trick them.

I think this means you should register your car as a 1980? and the car "shall receive a motor designed to meet emission standards at least as stringent as those achieved by the original motor with all its original emission control equipment attached and functioning. So basically a regular e-test…

“hot rod” means a motor vehicle in which the original motor has been replaced with a motor of a type not installed by the manufacturer on that model of motor vehicle for the model year designated for the motor vehicle by the manufacturer;
“model year”, when used with respect to a motor vehicle, a motor or a chassis, means the model year designated by the manufacturer or, if there is no such designation, the calendar year in which the manufacture is completed;

(2) Despite the definition of “model year” in subsection (1),

(a) the model year of a grey market vehicle or hot rod shall be deemed to be,

(i) the model year designated by the manufacturer for the vehicle, if the manufacturer designated the model year of the vehicle to be 2000 or a later year,

(ii) the calendar year in which the manufacture of the vehicle was completed, if the manufacture of the vehicle was completed in 2000 or a later year and the manufacturer did not designate a model year for the vehicle, or

(iii) 1980, in any other case; and

(b) the model year of a kit car or rebuilt car shall be deemed to be the model year of the motor. O. Reg. 343/01, s. 1 (12).

Emission Control Equipment for Kit Cars, Rebuilt Cars and Hot Rods

  1. (1) A kit car or a rebuilt car that receives its first permit under the Highway Traffic Act on or after January 1, 1999, shall include, as part of a system to prevent or lessen the emission of contaminants, all of the original pollution control systems and components, or equivalent replacements, included or usually included with the motor of the rebuilt car or kit car by the manufacturer of the motor. O. Reg. 361/98, s. 4 (1); O. Reg. 86/99, s. 3.

(2) A hot rod that receives a motor replacement on or after January 1, 1999, shall receive a motor designed to meet emission standards at least as stringent as those achieved by the original motor with all its original emission control equipment attached and functioning, and the replacement motor shall have the original catalytic converter and all the original emission control equipment, or equivalent replacements, included or usually included with the replacement motor by the manufacturer of the motor. O. Reg. 361/98, s. 4 (2); O. Reg. 86/99, s. 3.

i just had my car pass in April doing a rot rod idle test and it passed with no problem but as a rot rod, but they are getting rid of the hot rod option as well, I think my guy would know what hes talking about or he wouldn’t be a licensed drive clean test operator

by the way what kind of animal is this?

sloth

Gyani said it.
why are people here so concerned… the majority here are swapped 240s… get a hot rod etest and be done with it.
I passed my hot rod etest with a problem. nor did i have a problem getting a hot rod etest.

Not an issue for any cars like myself tested under hotrod status…even easier lol.

Yes, as long as they don’t get rid of the hot rod status option as noted above by daves14…

Regardless… I’m getting my car re-tested a.s.a.p while I know it’ll pass and then I’m good for 2yrs no matter what.

So what happens to all the guys driving legit hot rods around town?? Will their cars be scrap too? I think there would be a revolt on that one.

Elimination of the “hot Rod” designation will definitely encounter resistance, unless they push it through without consulting any car clubs, etc. (its government. Wouldnt surprise me)

they can’t get rid of an option that allows cars with swapped motors to run. The market is to huge.

Every retired baby boomer is rolling in a muscle car nowadays.

I have a 1999 civic with a B-series swap. Looks like I need to buy a 1997 shell right now to switch everything over!

Thanks for that information!!

get a friend in another region, or a PO box…

for example wingham does not require them…
