Which marathon is that? I am doing mine September 23rd. I am feeling pretty good for the next one!
Toronto!
Man that is a good one. Think I can do Rochester Sept 23rd and Toronto 3 weeks later? Hmmmmm I don’t see why not?
Although I just had a terrible run. I am trying to follow a 4 day a week running schedule and well I did 20mi in the last 4 days 10mi sun, 4mi tues, 6mi wed but before the 6mi yesterday I did open water swimming. Anyhow tried to do 4mi today and felt like hell. Did 2mi and walked home. I think either adding the swimming or just running too fast on the other runs did it. No running tomorrow!
So back in December, I ate shit skiiing, and twisted my leg pretty bad, couldn’t walk on it barley at all for a good month… it started to feel better, so I started running… I noticed the days after a decent run, I’d get a lot of pain in my lower shin… I started ruck marching… 15min/mile pace with a 60lb ruck, then the pain REALLY set in. I went in for an X-ray, nothing really showed, so I got an MRI… 2 fractures in my tibia and a shit of of tissue damage… from what I was told, it appeared to be an older fracture, that kept trying to heal, and everytime I’d do something strenuous, it would fall apart again.
So now here I am, bummed as shit because I can’t run at all for the forseeable future.
word of the wise, you hurt yourself, get checked out. For 7 months now, I’ve dealt with high ankle pain varying from 3-8 on the pain scale. FFFFFFFUUUU
Run through it ya puss. (but srsly feel better).
Worst run ever today. Run Keeper crashed half way which pissed me off too. I guess I haven’t been drinking enough water or something, I got super dizzy and light headed… slowed me down a bit…
Don’t let it get to you it is tough in the heat/humidity
I went on a 10mi run today. I really think I should be able to get these longer runs down to the 8:45ish range if I really push it but today I came it at a 9:08 pace. A few thoughts
When it is this hot/humid I am having a terrible time keeping my breath but only for the first 40min or so. Super annoying
I am running the back half just as fast as the front so I am not pushing it too hard so I think next long run I am going to force the first 4-5 miles to be in the 8:40ish range and see if I can carry t through. I believe next long run is 12mi next Sat. HOPE for ~9min.
I have a 4mi run in a few days that I am going to try to push ~8min pace. Same thing this week 8:07 pace and it was because I started too slow. After 2mi I was at 8:20. I need to figure out a way to get my breathing better when I start. Just started a new allergy/asthma med this past week that they said takes 3-4 weeks. Hopefully this helps. Or cooler less humid temps.
Cliffs…Running is going well but I need to run my front 1/2 a little faster
Do it!

I rarely run out of breath, usually when I have trouble running its my muscles/knees/some other pain… I dont have many allergy issues though, I feel terrible for everyone who does… must suck.
I am typically running at my breathing threshold but have had asthma and allergies my entire life. Hence becomimg a much better distance runner than ~5k runner. However when I was training harder and taking medication I was doing the 5k around 20min some years ago so no reason I can’t get faster. Hardly ever is it anything aside from breathing that slows me down unless I am 20+ miles.
wow 20min 5k i want that!
Yeah me too!!! Once the marathon season is over I plan to do a decent amount of speed/interval training this winter.
Today I swam for an hour. 10min, 20min, 20min intervals
Got out of the pool and ran 5mi. This was pretty tough.
Might run the Chase challenge tomorrow. Always a fun event. I really wanted to run it ~8min mi but my running hasn’t been quick at all really. Legs have been pretty tired from pushing my pace on my 10+ stuff.
Did 3 miles yesterday morning on a treadmill since I’m in Vegas and had too. The heat here is stupid hot. Ran it in 25.21 but I walked the first 2 mins to warm up.
if anyone wants speed training I can offer up my dogs services. shes good for about a 6 minute mile for probably a mile, then drops off after that.
we compromise on about 9:30/mile for 3 miles but she isnt happy about it
I think I am giving up on runkeeper. Might try endomundo or Nike+ thoughts? You guys should make the switch with me

Runkeeper just doesnt connect to GPS sometimes and its super frustrating. I have to reboot to get it to work. Which at a race never works out…
Hmmmm I am not having any runkeeper issues.
Sidenote I almost didn;t’ run the subaru chase today since my legs were pretty sore from the swim/run. But decided to and did an average pace of 7:45min! I am really happy with that especially since I was sore and kinda beat.
It would appear that its my gps radio taht cant get a fix, the app doesnt matter… i tried the gps doctor and it didnt really work so i returned it… I’m super annoyed…
Bummer dude that sure sounds frustrating.
On a positive note I have been working on speed a little but still have pretty high volume…Earlier this year anything “long” I was defaulting to a 9:45ish pace. Recently started picking up and pushing the pace and am adding a few miles a week till marathon time.
Well earlier I did 10.23 miles at 8:45 pace!!! Felt decent too! Next weekend I am going to try for 13mi ~9min.
^keep it up, man! i am on the sidelines, yet again, have a disk issue in my lower back that is sending pains down my right leg… i am hoping to get a second opinion this week
Nice. You’re killing it!
