Official Running Thread!!!!!!

IHUSM.

I probably can’t even get a 9:30 min/mi right now.

:picard:

Signed up for the Detroit half marathon on October 20th.

did 3 miles yesterday after not running all summer and remembered how much running sucks

 Let us know how it goes. Any expectations?

I got in a back to back 6.5mi then 5.5mi day. Even with life being busy and the car build im trying to make time for a run 3 days a week. I need to get my running back!

As lame as it is – I’d just like to finish this one and improve next time (and/or run a full). I haven’t participated in a formal race so this should be interesting.

Sweet. You will have fun. Maybe haha.

Haha. The route takes us over the Ambassador Bridge and through the Windsor Tunnel.

Did four miles in 32:00 last night, woooo progress! Have the zombie run coming up this Saturday, anyone else running it? I’m in the 1:00PM heat, going to have to resist the urge to dropkick the first zombie I see.

Drop-kicking people is fun! If all else fails use a headbutt.

Bumppppppppppppp.

Jammed 3.5 miles last night at a 8:29 pace (yuck) but in my defense, I haven’t really ran in a couple years with the exception of the Trot.

Anyone else doing the CC this year? My company no longer participates (they rather just eat tons of digusting food in the office and sit on their asses) so I will be registering under another company. I also decided yesterday that I want to complete a half. For those who have done it, any advise? I feel like I can jam 5-6 miles now at 9-9:30 pace, just curious how much slower I should be at roughly to double that distance.

Running sucks.

I don’t work for a company that is local anymore, so unless I get them to sponsor it via Ingram, I wont be there.

Half is pretty easy. I drank a few dixie cups of Stroh’s during the Detroit US Half. Yum!

I ran a mile in 11:30 last week at the gym, that sucked. Why do people do this for fun?

Because all you need are a $100 pair of running shoes, $40 shorts, a $20 t shirt, and a love of boring activities. Compare that to cycling where you need a bike that costs a few grand and you can see the appeal.

Also, is that a typo, a mile in 11:30??? Isn’t that walking speed?

I walked the first minute to warm up. Lmao love of boring activities

No 10-12 minute miles are pretty normal for people getting started. There is always those people who just are natural runners but even when I was a varsity athelete, I never could run well. I thought I was very slow but running 5 miles in just over an hour was above a lot of people in a small running group I was in for a while.

Does anyone have good trails to run around here? Wanted to start doing shorter ones through random terrain and get away from the city streets.

Jeeeeeesh.

Yea its a mix. I am convinced people can just run naturally. This one girl comes out to run 2 weeks before the buffalo marathon and can do a halfs straight off the couch. It took me a year to go from dying at 1 mile in 15 minutes to being able to run 5 miles.

i typically run an 8-9 min mile consistantly for distance lately.

best mile is around 6:02
