*Official Swine Flu Thread*

:fu:

suspected cases in Monroe and Wayne county now.

And every time I cough, my co-workers yell “SWINE FLU”

Shredd and Regan just had the Erie County Health Commissioner on. He stated that 36,000 people died in the US last year from the “human” flu. He said the swine flu is generally less severe than human flu even is. He didn’t want to say it, but strongly hinted that the media has way blown this out of proportion (shocking I know…) and that most people if they get it will get over it on their own without even needing to see a doctor.

lol. He was on the evening news as well. He also said it causes a fever, body aches, upset stomach, and other flu-like symptoms. If you catch it, you should get plenty of rest and use over the counter coping medications. Keep your fluid intake up and pay extra attention to being sanitary. If before hearing about the “SWINE FLU OF DEATH”, you wouldn’t go to the doctor for your symptoms, then don’t bother going just because of it.

SO yes, they are implying the media is throwing it waaaay out of proportion.

of course they fuckin are. i was watching cnn yesterday and i began to realize that i was wasting every single second of my time watching it. They brought expert after expert onto the show and kept asking the same 4 or 5 questions and each answer began with “well you know,” which means, “im not going to answer this question at all” not one question got answered, just generalized. God this sucks.

call me when 1/3 of the population dies from it… otherwise yaaaawn

First U.S. Death reported

Maybe dead children will finally be motivation to tighten up the boarder. Yeah right.

LOL at them wanting to change the name to “Mexican Flu”

+1

One baby died whopty do.

i dont remember who i was talking to, but like two months ago i remember saying i bet the govt will just release a killer virus to fix the economy/unemployment…

i love being right!

babies can die pretty easily from a regular flu as well

not really groundbreaking shit

yea… once people realize how many people died last year of regular flu, they will realize this is no big deal.

dont like 50k die from bee stings a year

^ On the front page of CNN.com last night they actually had in the headline that 36,000 people died last year from the regular flu, apparently in an attempt to stop fanning the flames of this horrible plague called swine flu…

But alas, that probably didn’t draw up enough ratings, so they now are back to sensationalizing this story causing people to panic.

I’m just glad I don’t work in a hospital, medical office, etc because I’m sure those places just are filled with retards who think they’re going to die because they have a runny nose.

President Barack Obama suggested Wednesday that school closings may be necessary, in an escalating global health emergency that claimed the first death in the United States and swept Germany onto the roster of afflicted nations. Obama said local educators across America should consider shuttering schools if conditions worsen.

way to go buffalo news.

My thoughts on this, WASH YOUR HANDS and COVER YOUR MOUTH. Its a flu, caught just like any other flu. Stay clear of sick people. Take your vitamins.

lol. google sez anywhere from 50-100 people a year in the US.

  1. Wash your hands frequently
  2. Stay home when you are sick
  3. Cough or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands
  4. Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  6. Practice other good health habits

I think world wide is a bigger # … .I hope lol

disasters in the UN … lol

http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=29636&Cr=disaster&Cr1

The 2008 death toll of 235,816 was more than three times the annual average

on a side note its hard to find death toll #'s because some asshole had to make a movie called “death toll”… fuck DMX

And don’t forget, get rid of the retiring baby boomers too. That will help the Medicare crisis.

lethality is actually more localized to the 20-40 age group.
there are some glaring differences between mexico and here, hence the huge difference in both number and severity of cases…
1- we do not have crowded city-centers even close to on par with Mexico City’s pop density.
2- our higene standards are heads and tails above mexico’s.
3- our amout or poor/vagrant people in said city centers are much much less than say- Mexico City.
4- our healthcare system, both access and treatment abilities, are years ahead.

I work in an ER and deal with people thinking they have this constantly. a note to them.
1- if you went to mexico 3 months ago or longer… you DO NOT have it.
2- if you don’t have a fever and resp. issues… you DO NOT have it.
3- if you have bowel issues and are currently getting the worlds cheapest and most effective colonic… you DO NOT have it. You have Montezumas Revenge. Sorry. Buy a people magazine or three, some febreze, and camp out in the nearest bathroom. It will pass and you will be 10 lbs lighter.
4- there is NEVER a reason to call an ambulance because you have diareahha
5- the next person to come in asking why they aren’t getting a room right away because they have a cough will be pistol whipped. I mean it.
