I’m sorry but a VAST majority of the accidents are entirely due to poor decisions by the opperators of the bike…
Things I do to ensure the lowest chance of death while on two wheels possible:
-don’t ride like an asshat
-Never ride alone on the thruway
-don’t ride like an asshat
-don’t ride alone when riding for pleasure (only ride alone when commuting to work, it’s easy to lose focus when you’re out enjoying the scenery but much less possible when having a specific destination and time frame)
-don’t ride like an asshat
-ride non-supersports type bikes…there’s nowhere to REALLY enjoy the actual capabilities of a sports bike SAFELY nearby
-don’t ride like an asshat
-took ride w/pride
-don’t ride like an asshat
I believe 100% that there should NOT be any permit process or road testing…I think it should be set up so that you take a written test, then take a msf/ride with pride type course with instruction/seat time, then pass a riders evaluation, then recieve your license to get out riding.
I had a good laugh at ride w/pride because this one dude was taking it to get his license and 10% off his insurance…when asked if anyone had a preferance to a “sportbike” for the training, he jumped right at the opportunity…the instructer asked him what he rode personally, and he responded with “GSXR1000”, instructer goes “nice! is it stock?” and the dude grinned like he thought the guy was interested and says “NAW man! its all chromed out with a stretched swingarm and 180 tire!” and the instructer goes “We’ve got a nice ninja250 for you to be comfortable on!”

Not trying to stereotype but, why do these always seem to be crotch rockets. I mean cruisers get cut off too… they are bikes as well.
Because 90% of them buy one to try and be cool , ware no gear at all, think they’re invincible and ride like hooligans . Idgaf if its 100 degrees out! you will not see me riding with out leather jacket, full gauntlet gloves, full boots and a snell approved helmet. If I’m on a long trip I even put on my leather pants and zip into the jacket. I lost count to how many people were riding in shorts and tees and shoes when I went to lancaster last night . It’s really disappointing. If you can afford the bike u can afford the gear there’s no excuse.

^^^ Well put. Thinking back on my riding I am a little upset with myself for not wearing leather pants or at least some protective/armored riding jeans.
