Wow, some of you pay way to much on insurance. I pay 190 a month, with Statefarm.
Stiky id fight it man. My friend was caught doing 45 over the limit on the freeway and the cop said he would tell the court that he was doing 50 if he took it to court. But the cop didn’t say anything about it. It took a year and a half for them to finally get it all settled. Ended up with a 200 dollar fine and 2 demerit points.
after u get a court date file for disclosure - then u will know exactly what the cop has written about the incident.
On your court date u again have to enter in a plea before the magistrate - You can always change your plea then and get off with a smaller fine or No points.
The " im guilty its my fault - let me take the points" attitude will only end up hurting you in the long run.
At least if you fight it you get a chance to drop the points or drop the fine … or both!
Okay so looking at that site… My fine under the highway traffic act (set fine) should be $344 ($7 per km/h over) plus $60 surcharge and $5 for the ticket… Which is $409… But the cop charged me $295… Which is still not right because under the Ontario court of justice it should be $294 ($6 per km/h over)… Plus $60 surcharge and $5 for the service which is $359… Not the $395 total payable he said I have to pay… Is this considered a fatal error as it’s the wrong amount and he charged me $46 extra but there’s no description as to where it came from?
How did you get charged for a 49 over and didn’t get your vehicle impounded? 49 km/h is considered stunting, I know that for a fact seeing as how I’ve been charged with it. I’m STILL currently fighting my ticket and its already been a year. The officer filed to have the date changed, and although in a normal situation you could fight the change, there’s no availability to do it here. Basically I’ve got another year to go before my next court date - 2 so far, and at that point I still don’t even know whats going to be decided.
Your best bet is to fight the ticket. Higher yourself and good lawyer, because unless your fluent in the court of law you have no chance. Do not plead guilty regardless if you did or did not commit the crime, you’ll kick yourself for doing it later. I’m not exactly sure how your situation is going to arise, however in my case the only thing from that fine, so far, that has popped up on my abstract is my week suspension. I’m currently still insured without any increases as of yet so I’m not to worried seeing as how I’ve still got another year to go before this all becomes final. Even when it does come down to it I’m fighting the ticket, and I doubt I’m going to get charged with stunting. I have many pieces on my side currently, not to mention the abnormally prolonged date I’ve had to deal with now.
Take it in steps and get a lawyer. I can assure you that if you don’t you’ll regret it for the next 3 years, and most likely the rest of your time driving.
Thanks for the insight martino, how fast were you actually going and how much was the fine and what were the exact details/cost of lawyer. Send me a pm if you don’t mind.
I was doing about 120-130. I have another car behind me, who was cut off by the officer, to vouch for for my speed, as well as a passenger in my car.
I was charged with 154 in 100 - stunting.
I’m currently fighting it but as for the charge in its first stage is, $2000-$10,000 in fines, license suspension, vehicle impoundment, insurance increases, and many other small details.
Just throwing this out there. I am 23, good clean record. I pay $167.00/ month for my 89 S13 hatch for just basic coverage with State farm. for an old car like this getting full insurance would be nice if you did wreck and get a little bit of money back. but the difference in price per month and what you will get in return from the insurance co. for the so-called blue book value of the car makes it not worth it really.
also i took out a 1 million doolar life insurance policy with it, and way state farm works it actually made my car insurance go down
