PlastiDip whole car.

Wheels have been painted 2 months

Good to hear, thanks.

but be sure to do many light coats. heavy coats will be runny

^^Gotcha, patience definitely seems to be the key with any “paint” work.

That is straight from plastidip my car or whatever its called face book page.

If you guys are doing the whole car you need to use a wagner or any sprayer used for latex house paint. You will get streaks if you try doing it with a rattle can.

did my wheels flat black with this stuff 2 weeks ago, still looks awesome. peels very easily if you put enough light coats on.

i know Josh B and I were toying with the idea of doing a whole car for the winter…i’d love to do mine flat white with flat black winter wheels for the salt season

Here are some results from plasti dipping parts on my Mini

The wheels I did

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h258/Drexial/IMG_0969.jpg

The wheels have winter tires on them, either this winter or next spring they will become my summer wheels. The only problem I might have with that is the stock wheels have TPM sensors that I don’t think will fit on the current winter wheels and I really don’t feel like being bothered by them every time I get in my car. It was annoying enough over the winter.

Nice man looks good

Mini looks good

Very similar mini always parks on my street in north buff

What street is that?

:snky:

I like that Mini a lot…one of my only gripes with those cars are the over usage of chrome…otherwise I love them…well, except for the interior design…

My Gripe is that renowned BMW build quality (sarcasm) and deniability when consistent issues arise… I kinda enjoy the quirky interior, I am tweaking that as well.

But yes, the excess chrome kinda conflicted with the sportier feel of the car… so I took care of that. I will make an attempt at blacking out the headlights as well. Just have to convince myself to stick headlights that cost $500 a piece into an oven. Haven’t heard any horror stories about it going wrong though.

I do think the tint really pulled it all together though, another shout to Rainbow on here.

Its more about planning and speed with this stuff. I messed around with some hood stripes this weekend and made a point of making sure I let it tack up before peeling the tape because I’m usually too impatient. So after 15 minutes I peeled it and completely destroyed the my edges. The second attempt was much better, laying the center of the area pretty thick and then running the edges somewhat heavy last. I left some tabs on the masking tape so you could readily pull it imediately after spraying the edges, in the same direction.

It seems to be easier to work with than regular paint because you know in the back of your mind that if you f*ck it up, you get plenty of second chances.

Hartwell I see you everyday

might try this out on the bug for shits and giggles…

do you think plastidip sticks to bone? i’m thinking a gun metal moose rack and skull might be kind of cool

You get this going yet? I’d love to see a whole car.

The car goes great. The PlastiDip folks are pissing me off though. Ordered a kit on 6/15.

After not seeing shipping info, sent a mail on 6/26, which was replied to on 7/2, saying that there is a backorder situation, and they will be receiving product in 3-5 business days. Sent them another mail on 7/12, and the reply was that they “should be able to get this out within the next few days”.
