Spaenaur, Fastenal, Brofasco, CT, HD, Rona. Nobody had M10x1.25 (bumper mount pitch) or M12x1.25x40 - bolts for rear hub to knuckle in proper grade, material or at all. Super sad that I had to order metric bolts from the imperial USA.
I’ll get more pics when I get some time to work on it - 70 hr wks blow
Short term plan:
Bolt up rotisserie.
Cut out floors and spare tire well.
Weld floors and R34 subframe mount in.
Bolt up S30 subframe.
Spend like 1000 hours grinding/sandblasting the bottom and remainder of bay.
Dry ice the sound deadening.
Paint interior.
This should be done before May, then time for engine bay goodies.
Quick question: Where did you get that black rotisserie? rough cost? Ones I’ve been looking at are like 1200ish, but don’t look nearly as sturdy as that one.
Thanks guys. Good to know some Ppl still <3 the classics like me.
Some old rich guy paid a fabricator almost $2000 to build this one lols. The rotating assembly was all turned to super tight tolerance, grease nipples, engineering spec’d and xrayed supposedly safe to 12,500 lbs haha.
I took the arms that he had custom made for a 69 yenko camaro and welded my own 1/2" plate ends on for the Datsun.
I have the plans for it if you want to get a quote to fab or to fab urself… He paid a PEng $200 to do the plans lol Materials alone cost $750
The only thing I would add is hydraulic ram height adjustment or a trailer jack - I will someday when I’m feeling rich. I plan on renting the rotisserie when I’m done the Datsun rather than sell it.
Oh and I paid $700 for it and a drive in the Yenko because the old guy was super rich and was down for helping out the new gen of car builders
The new canadian tire around the corner from me in oakville carries all those metric bolts flanged and non flanged, hardened or plain steel lol I guess im lucky
You didn’t mention engine management, If you’re looking I have a haltech E6X im selling that would run that motor quite nicely I vote keep the drip rails i think it would look wierd without
Soo the only reason I was using the M3 E36 dash was because a stock one cost a fortune in good shape. Until I met an old guy who lives a few streets over from me and he hooked me up.
'72 240Z Dash - professionally restored
Heater center vent
Centre Console
All necessary tubing
BNIB dash side vents
Glove box
Dash to windshield trim
Dash harness (not needed I’m doing new gauges throughout)
Front Grille
Hood hinges
Tail light finisher pieces
Price for all of the above? $280. I hope there is somebody here who appreciates how much of a steal that is.
Soo I got an email from the guy that I bought my dash from about a hood for sale out in Brantford. I headed out there after work and met Chris and Rob - couple of bro’s that have a pair of Datsun Z cars - one of them RB swapped. Cool dudes - sold me this hood for $50
Thanks Recon  I have downdraft paint booth booked (for free :D) for end of summer so I hafta get shit done quick.
I have Joe from RPM/SG/Furtmeier coming over to give me a quote on a cage / GTR subframe mounting. I’m not sure if I trust my little Hobart 120 to weld in the rear subframe of a 400+ whp car lol.
Also if anyone watching this has front 5 lug hubs for decent price give me a shout.
