I went to the Liberty Hound down on the waterfront in the Naval Park. My burger was awesome and my bride had the Ahi Tuna wrap taco something or other. It is always nice to realize there are great outdoor restaurant spots in our city.
I’ve so wanted to try it there, but scared it’ll suck. This will make me go.
Just went to Mulberry for a meatball and chicken parm dinner. I never leave that place disappointed. My wallet does get a lot lighter though…
I had a meal at Lento and it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be (maybe it was a bad night).
Tap and Mallet is good. The mussels are surprisingly good, actually.
John’s Tex Mex
Dogtown
Owl House
Good Luck
Openface
…and now I miss Rochester.
Why? You’ve got some pretty fantastic places in your area.
Three Brothers
Transport Pizza
The Comet diner
The Smoke Shack
Blackbird and Safehouse are always fun.
It’s a shame I only had drinks at Ricks tonight but I did have wings at BarBill after that.
Mmmmm wings…
I think it’s because I spent a ton of time in Rochester in grad school. And grad school was all flowers and rainbows and science. I fucking love Milwaukee though…
I need to try out some of the places on your list!
For my Milwaukee list:
Comet would certainly be on it, but the wait is typically very long.
Beans and Barley (good lunch place)
Sobelman’s (also a good lunch place, nothing too unique though)
Centro Cafe (great for dinner)
Nessum Dorma (also great for dinner)
Cafe Corazon (good Mexican food)
Cafe Hollander (pub food, good for dinner)
Riverwest Co-Op Cafe (brunch)
I don’t really make it to many other bars other than what’s in my neighborhood. Riverwest Public House (co-operative bar), Art Bar, Foundation (pretty gnarly tiki bar), Riverwest Filling station. What’s also great about Milwaukee is the abundance of coffee roasteries (Alterra, Stone Creek, Anodyne) and the support other businesses provide them. I work for a Fortune 100 company and we brew Stone Creek Coffee, for example.
Awesome. Milwaukee does rock. I’ll need to check some of the places you mentioned next time I’m in town.
Sauce in Milwaukee.
I can only imagine the level of pure ecstacy that their chicken parm and meatball would trigger. Went there when my sister was back in town last time. My dad got a lasagna that was about 6" tall and the size of a phone book. How they managed to cook this thing and not have it tip over was nothing short of a miracle. It had brisket, prosucitto, and italian sauage in it. It was big enough to feed a small village in Africa for a week, or, my dad for the evening. It wasn’t just big, but it was big and delicious. After him and I were done with our meals, we devoured the remains that my sister left of her scallops. Amazing scallops.
Edit-What is the name of that place in East Aurora at the intersection of Oakwood and Elm? It has a front patio/porch and it seems to always be pretty busy. It’s across from the ice cream place that is in an old cabose if I got the streets wrong. Rolled by on my bike last Tuesday and thought it looked pretty cool
Elm street bakery.
I just had a great brunch at American Grill. Rick’s, Riley’s, BarBill and American Grill all within 24 hours, not a bad day.
Wallenweins edit: or that^
Oh yeah, he probably means Wallenwein’s. Good old place, nothing that special but, good tavern.
It must be Wallenweins as I remember rolling past the Elm Street Bakery
I have to bump this thread because of the how impressed I am with Tempo. The lady and I went there for dinner tonight, it was delicious.
Don’t go to Brickyard BBQ in Lewiston; you might run into a Jeff that spells his name with a ‘G’ and a Mexican.
Tempo is pretty good. I love the hash that comes with the Ribeye
I have had Butterwood a few times the last month and would recommend others check it out.
Went to San Marco on Saturday evening, been a super long time since I’ve been there and nothing has changed about the food and service. I’m very impressed with the food, price is kinda on the heavier side but it’s well worth it once in a while IMO.
