Restaurants that don't suck thread

sorry i didnt realize you guys had a micheline star, i shouldn’t dare compare you to Olive Garden… I’ve been to many places that use fresh ingredients, handmade pastas, and seafood flown in fresh everyday. Their portions were larger and less expensive.

who’s judging the food on portion size? I never said the food was bad, I just said the portions were small and it didnt come with bread or a salad. Maybe the pasta shrunk from the drive home?

On a side note I’ve been trying out all the stands at the West Side Bazar on Grant/Ferry

The Burmese and Thai are excellent… the service is a little spotty and language barrier is sometimes an issue but menus are easy to read (pictures)

For cheap eats…The Kitchen Table is incredible…think scaled down Sophia’s…they have been located at Elmwood/Amherst for the last few years, but recently moved to Hertel near D-District Station…

I’m happy to hear they just moved, I was worried they closed! I’ve only been once but the food was great.

texas de brazil-good variety of beef, most med rare…

8/10, plate is $45

8/10 on an opening night? Not bad. Typically I’d avoid first opening restaurants until the kinks are sorted out.

I assume you went to the Buffalo one?

Yellow Deli - Chattanooga, TN - 9.8/10

If you’re in a city and they have one of these…do yourself a favor and check it out.

Portion size doesn’t make a restaurant but it sure can break it. If I spend >$20 on my meal and leave hungry, I am displeased.

Love Texas de Brazil in other cities. Giving this one a month or two then I’ll definitely check it out. They’re right up there with Fogo de Chao.

Had the pleasure of dining at Russell’s recently, the Filet Mignon sets the bar pretty high, service was outstanding. Will return.

UTC Crossroads Dining Hall : 4.5/10

The service is lacking, the food is on par with most cafeteria food I’ve had.

If anyone is in Watkin’s Glen/Seneca Lake area definitely check out Stonecat Cafe. The service and food were phenomenal, I would give my experience there a 10/10.

Yea… We actually called a rez around 2 for 630, walked in at 630 and sat right down. Its loud inside, but the staff were kissing ass and being very attentive… There were a lot of management looking individuals in suits walking around, i assume new local management with some seasoned from other locations… Once we were done with salads and flipped our coin to green for meats, my plate was filled with 10+ varieties in 5 min… I had to flip it “off” for lack of room on my plate. I had about 3 favs, out of the 15ish I tried. Will return eventually… Its paradise if you are the type that will try anything at least once, you get to basically sample a ton of cuts.

Good to hear. The outside definitely makes it look like it’s still not open though.

Texas de B azi

Bump.

Any recommendation where to grab decent lunch at? Kinda in the mood to try a new place out over the weekend.

Kumo 9/10 for sushi

By transtit/losson in lancaster. Its a small place so make reservations if you go on a Friday night.

Heading to 716 next week…Will report back.

Mehhh, I simply wouldn’t want to go since everyone including their mother has been going there. I much rather visit a “hole in the wall” establishment over a huge one where it’s packed and service probably lacks do to it.

I’ve heard good things + local beers on tap and a 38’ TV. I probably wouldn’t make a special trip, but we got a GC for Christmas and my brother-in-law managed to get reservations.

Ah, in that case I suppose why not. LMK how it is though!

On a side-note, I went to Trattoria Aroma a couple weeks ago, still my favorite place to dine locally.

I just want to say that i went to aroma on Bryant recently and I was very disappointed by the lack of an all you can eat saladbar and breadsticks. I won’t be returning.

in all seriousness though, looks like I’ll have a mini blue monk around the corner. And @Gus. And @Geehee. Still bummed that the sterling closed though :frowning: also a Lloyd brick and mortar. I love where I live
