Not at all.
Working second I’ll be in within the next two weeks
Went down to Black Sheep last night and had a great experience. The place is really nice, and the staff seemed very knowledgable and into the food/drink they were serving.
We started with the Charcuterie plate, which had your typical cured meats. The standout here was the pistachio pork pate, this was incredibly good and was worth the visit alone.
For dinner I had the pork fritters, which were very well done. They were very light and had a nicely balanced kimchi romesco sauce that I sopped up. The girl had a gnocchi special served with a fresh herb sauce. They were perfectly prepared as well, light and fluffy as they should be. I will definitely be going back for another trip!
Steve and Ellen are two of my favorite chefs in this city, and great friends of mine. I’ll pass along that you had a good time!
 Toutant is likely to be my next stop for sure
Ok so I gotta give credit where credit is due. A few years ago, I went to Trattoria Aroma on Bryant St. and wasn’t exactly blown away by the experience. I know I talked with @manhagen about it as I believe he works there or at least at one of their locations. Well I went to the Main St. location in Williamsville last night and really enjoyed the meal. My wife got caprese salad and I had the griglia. Both were awesome and then I had their quattro formagio pizza and she had their piedmonte pasta, again very good. We got some Tiramisu to go and that was the only part of the meal we weren’t really excited about, but overall a good experience.
I used to work at Bryant, I am now at Toutant on Ellicott.
Im glad to hear you enjoyed your experience, Main has a new chef as of this week and I’m happy to hear he’s doing well. I will pass it along.
I went to Wasabi Japanese Restaurant in Buffalo on Elmwood across from Blue Monk. Probably some of the best sushi I’ve had in the area and at a very reasonable price. Obviously Seabar is a big one to go to.
I’ll be making my first visit the 15th for our Anniversary, looking forward to it.
Went to Big Ditch, Super cool place. Wife and I both had burgers and they were cooked very nicely. Beer doesn’t need any validation because it’s always on point.
Went there a few weeks ago. Excellent. I had Ribeye and lana had fried chicken. Both perfect.
@manhagen I saw you behind the bar but man it was packed and we were seated quick so I didn’t say hello. Next time
Went to Black Iron Bystro last night. Our food was excellent, cocktails were great. It was a pretty quiet night there so it was easy going.
Went to Carmelos for the fourth or fifth time. That guys food is outstanding and always delivers. Unfortunately it was slammed that night and our server was a little overwhelmed with tables so she fell a little short, but I can’t blame her, it happens to all of us.
And to the guy talking sushi up there, go to Kunis. That’s the best sushi in this city, hands down
BUMP!
So last night I went to Texas de Brazil for the first time. I made reservations a couple weeks ago and treated my parents and little brother. But knowing it was unlimited meat etc. I prepped for it.
I stopped eating Saturday around 3PM and ate last night at 6PM. I went in at 147 lbs. and came out at 153. It was worth every penny. Between 4 of us, plus drinks desserts and tip came out to about 280$.
I tried everything! (many times obviously).
Everything was cooked medium rare besides pork and chicken obv. I like everything rare usually but medium rare was just fine. The flank steak, top sirloin, pork tenderloin and lamb chops were my fav. I liked the brazilian sausage too but not as much as the others. The bacon wrapped filet and chicken was OK, but I didn’t get more than one serving.
The salad bar looked great but I didn’t waste my time there. My fam got rice/beans/salads/soups/bread but I took the soup bowl and filled it with bacon, cheese, grilled mushrooms and onions to compliment my meat. If you go, just eat the meat or else I feel like it would be a waste of money.
To top off my meal I had a creme Brule with a glass of milk.
We were seated at 630 and left at 845. Everyone else was done eating around 730-745 but I made sure to get my money’s worth.
EDIT: I forgot to mention I am taking a giant shit while I’m writing this.
Not one to bash a resturant but I’m going to have to. Went to Kaydara Noodle bar a few weeks back with my fiance and another couple. Had good service and the food was pretty good. It was a bit smokey in the resturant but other than that we were happy. 24ish hours later and 3 out of 4 of us were violently sick. Didn’t fully recover for about a week. It was terrible.
I understand these things happen, but I was more upset with how they handled it. I left a message with someone and was told the manager would call me back. Never heard from them. I would think they would be a little bit more worried about a situation like this. If we were to leave a few bad reviews on google it would really hurt their business.
Damn. I eat there once a week, never had an issue. @newman was just there, wonder if he’s OK.
Llyod’s restaurant on Hertel comes in handy after going to Mac’s for some awesome drinks. Last Saturday I spent 29$ on Burritos, totally worth it.
Griffon Gastropub is opening in East Aurora. Is that like gastrointestinal disorder?
Went to Tappo last night for the first time and was pleased. Had the flatbread they make daily, eggplant parm and a bottle of montepulciano - all delicious, especially the flatbread. Atmosphere was alright, a few dude-bros with balzers on but that is no biggie. Only complaint is - the server had poor wine etiquette…granted the white wine came out first (as it should) but he automatically poured me a full glass without showing me the lable or poruing a sample tasting prior. Other than that, service was great, I’d go back again.
You went to a resturant with $15 bottles of wine… lol
I ordered it there…I don’t care if it’s a free bottle or $1,000 it’s still poor etiquette.
Sort of off the beaten path for most, but Hilltop Restaurant just South of Wright’s Corners (North of Lockport) is shockingly good.
I don’t write a lot of reviews, but this place warranted the effort.
