SCCA Solo II AutoX Novice School - 4/22/06

Awesome Event!

Cheap food, great people, good fun!

Yeah that was a scary looking pad. Half of it was disinegrated. Looked like the backing plate got hung up on the caliper and when you steped on it the piston bent the fusk out of the pad.

fun day cant wait till tomarow.

wish i could have gone today…i was finishing up some last minute tweaks to my suspension setup…needed my tires re balanced…hopefully i am good to go…we will find out tommorw…1st couple of runs will have to be feeler and getting to know my new setup and braking power

me:“Just don’t brake until you get scared.”

rofl thats so true though.

Well, I had a good time. Thanks to everyone that let me drive their car!

Jim, you definitely get the award for “best drift” on your last run in the STi…

So you’re the guy!! Glad you enjoyed the car.

I hope I didn’t scare you too much with that slide at the beginning. I know better than to try and save a spinning car. Let this be a lesson to all of you out there - when your car spins, it will not be your fastest time, so don’t risk injury or damage and just plant your foot on the brake. Anyway, it scare my girlfriend pretty good. I would definitely recommend some stickier tires for a car with that much power. However, it was probably just the wet pavement that made it that loose. I am sure those tires have a ton more grip in the dry. Either way, it was still a bad ass ride. Thanks again - I owe you for that one.

Anytime, the tires are much better on dry pavement for sure. The applause for spinning it out was pretty good though…

your more than welcome …

i had a fun time … you might just see me again lol if i have rubber for the vette by then i’ll probly run that

Ok tons a newb questions.

  1. Where do these happen?
  2. how much advanced notice is there to the events?
  3. Can i run my stock buick lesabre?
  4. would anyone let me drive their car?
  5. Does it cost money?

Answers would be greatly appreciated. Its like Go-carts in real life…or something

300+ pics yay!

damnit, i really wish you all could have seen the drift I did on the back turnaround on my last run. Went into it way to hot…oversteered…mashed gas and drifted the whole fucking thing perfectly with a perfect exit…the car didn’t even snap back exiting the drift, just super smooth. Lucky, but smooth.

Big parking lots, usually colleges, facotries, go kart tracks and runways.

Yes.

Yes.

Personally, I would charge you $30, strickly for the cost of mounting and balancing the front tires. That is because I have a bunch of r- comps on their last leg, and with a new driver they will definately get corded…

$25 for non-members, not sure of FLR prices

kinda like go-karting in a full sized car…

If you don’t mind driving, our next event is Sunday at Niagara County Community College (NCCC). You can stop out and check out the action - maybe go for a ride with a few people.

BTW - anyone who ran novice school, and had to change you car number or class for one reason or another, make sure you change your info in the registration system online or there could be some conflict in the next event. When you go to the registation table, check the list - if your car class and number isn’t what is written down, then you have to come in the truck and fix it.

One last note: If you show up after 9:30, you are not running. Period.

Hey russian, hes a vid one of the guys from buffalo scooby took just to get you an idea, nothing close to actually being there or being in the car but it gives you an idea of that these events are like.

That video is awesome - tell the guy thanks for doing it. If he comes out again, I’ll buy him a burger (No - not one of the “cajun” style ones…).

Zong - is your Sti ok? Check the sensor to make sure it didn’t take a crap. Keep an eye on your oil level, and your temp gauge too.
