I wouldnt think the time that the accident happened should make them not cover it because as long as you paid it before midnight you were still under their coverage.
Theyre just being weasels. Dont let them try to stick it to you.
And what the hell did your grandpa do that made youre grandma switch teams?
Damn.
My grandmother is now with the guy she left for my grandfather back in the '50’s. She hooked up him after my grandfather died and his wife had died the same year.
They DO have to cover you, the same exact thing happened to me in Sep. 07…I was 5 days late paying, I paid it and I got in a accident 4 hours later, and totaled my car and I have state farm. The second you pay them money they reinstate you if you were late, and if you pay on your due date that doesnt matter either because you were covered then, with insurance when you pay monthly its in advance, thats why you pay a deposit in the beginning, its really your first month bill. So when you payed them last month it covered you up to prolly next month,if u want im REALLY good at talking to ignorant ppl i would love to help :-)and btw they covered everything. They are just dumb.
I work for Farm Family Insurance in Glenmont, NY. I work in IT but I will ask some of my folks up in the auto claim unit and see what they say. They’ll know if there is a law or if it’s a per-company type grace period. I’m expecting an email back from my guy up there.
“In New York it is usually 10 days after the payment was due. They have to give her written notice before canceling the policy even for non payment. Did her insurance co accept payment and did she have collision coverage on her policy?”
