i just thought this was kinda odd and wanted to add to this discussion (whether or not anyone cares). I was down in W.Va. a couple of weeks ago riding with some friends. We stopped at a bar and i didn’t realize they banned smoking down there in the bars. Everyone was still smoking, but they were using empty beer cans as ash trays instead of real ashtrays. I guess they did this in case the gov came in to check on them? Kinda funny though. It seems you can ban it all you want, but poeple will still smoke wherever they want to.

Well first off it is WV,second i can see most small and local bars doing that,smokers cannot drink and not have a cig when doing so. Gov already raised the prices of cigs to get people to stop to no avail,they just buy cheap brands. As far as i see it…the main topic of the gov comtroling and regulating smo]king in public places will not work and if they do do ti the non smokers will still not be happy because u cannot ban smoking in the outside of local places,all in all it is a lose lose situation and nothing but controvercy and political bullshit.

i dont know but i like to breath. when you pole smokers… i mean cig smokers put my health in jeopardy it pisses me off.

ALSO…
if you go to other states such as cali or NYC, smokers dont mind it.

I think you are missing the point of this discussion. The point is that government dictating policy to a privately owned business is wrong. If you(and i use the term ‘you’ in a generic sense here) don’t like the smoke in a bar/club/restaurant/whorehouse, then complain to the owners of the establishments. If there is TRULY a majority demand for a non smoking facility, the market will dictate that and will respond. If there isn’t a majority demand, then why is it fair for the demands of a vocal few to be forced upon the majority who do not wish for this.
The government doesn’t give a fuck about your health. If they really did, they would ban all tobacco products and be done with it.
I truly cannot understand the mindset of wanting to turn over so much power and control to a government. :dunno: :dunno:
