I was in the bathroom and inadvertently knocked my eNv in the toilet. It was under water for less than 2 seconds, and as fast as I could scoop it out, I pulled the battery. Before I got the battery pulled it started to vibrate a little, and the screen looked normal.
How dead do you think it is? It’s drying out in the sun right now, what going to happen when I put the battery back in? How long should I wait? There are so many eNvs out there, this has to have happened to someone else on here.
I dropped my iPod Touch in a filled sink before, it was in for about 1-2 seconds. When it came out it was still on of course, i had to hold the power button for several seconds before it would turn off, so it was on for some time all wet.
It sat for about 2 hours and then i turned it on, worked fine, besides the backlight wouldnt turn on unless you set it to 1/2 brightness or higher, and it flickered. Touch sometimes wouldnt work.
My friend trashed 3 phones from water damage, the sticker under the battery was clearly exposed to water on all of them. Two of them he got replaced for free, and one he had to pay $50 for.
So, if all else fails… Clean it up and take it in, and say ‘it broke’ If they ask you any questions, YOU KNOW NOTHING!
One of my old envys was laying on my floor one day and I was drinking some 7up in a glass and I went to set it on my nightstand, it fell over onto the phone and soaked it. I shut the phone off and took it apart. Waited a day then turned it back on after blow drying it and it worked fine, just the ear piece was a little quiet. Then the next day it was 100% fine, about a month later the whole phone just froze up one day and died. Took it to the tech support and got a new one.
happened to me and for a mouth or so it would keep saying headphone activated or whatever Verizon’s code it that detects dampness.
I put it on my defroster and ran it full blast for a 1/2 hr or so and it’s been fine since(yr or so)
Good to know that a phone that was in the toilet is now in my fridge sitting on food… Such a genius idea!!!
I read the other thread about the fridge idea and don’t see how that would even work, seeing the fridge gets very moist this time of year with the humidity outside?
Anyway, the fridge works the same way an air conditioner works, it dries while it cools. The part inside that actually provides the coolness is called the evaporator. The only reason stuff seems like it is sweating in there is because of the air that sneaks in as you open the door. Once it is closed, it stays pretty dry in there.
Tomorrow, I am going to pick up some rice and let my phone sit in it for the next 2 days. I hope I have success! I can’t afford to buy a new phone this week. My Summer job forgot to send my paycheck this past week, so they are doubling up this weeks. Grrrrr.
