something has to be said because something has to be done.

If we say no, will you go away?

I hear yah, but by now there is WAY more info in the forums so their searching should be even easier than when you and I were noobs, it is soo easy to find out stuff they are asking about, and it is just getting easier. The more noob questions are asked, reverted to the old thread, brought back from the dead and revisited, and covered in more deapth… no?

Sounds like a good idea to me. They will bitch but they will learn.

or… new members can’t post for a month or a couple of weeks

no post from new members = no n00b questions.

this forces them to search than to just type a question and press submit…

maybe after a few weeks… when they can post… then if they have questions… it might be something that’s not found w/ the search button…

Maybe a solution is, new kids can’t start new threads for thier first 70 odd posts, allow them to add on to existing threads, but that will keep them from making dumb new threads.

we have a winner!!!

that sounds like a sick idea to me, and if they try to hijack, EDIT!! lol

And who’s going to maintain this list and keep track of who’s at what point?

The only way I see this happening is someone (me or Andy most likely)
writing custom code in phpBB to handle this.

Of course.

Or just stick em to a time limit of 2 months.

Problem is, if anyone truely wanted to do this, they would have to argue the fact against Bing, who uses the forum to sell his products.

It’s counter productive for him to agree to limiting people on the forum, because it ultimately detracts from his customer base.

Generally any idea that includes limiting membership, and posting, is opposed by Bing.

So there isn’t much point in arguing the fact unless you want to spend valuable car time, arguing with him.

The truth hurts…

Our mainpriority should be the club itself. Then we can worry about vendors.

lol…

i am all for graduated access…

Teckademics uses this method on thier forums because there are all kinds of hippie kids that watch the videos and want to hang out.

btw bobby, i sell more in montreal and Alberta than i do on SON anyways and my target market isnt noobs. otherwise id pedal used parts still for all the kids fixing up their rusted out 89’s.

i dont think 18 year old kids who just bought their first car are looking for crazy multi-link set ups or intercoolers.

i just disagree with facism.

Then why are you always the opposition to cleaning up the site? Especially back about a year ago.

It’s not facism, it’s creating a better community through higher expectations. It’s the same reason people who suck at sports, dont make the teams.

If you don’t disagree with the motion, then I expect you to put something in place very soon then and offer little resistence to the fact.

And one other thing… you should seriously recheck SON’s demographic, or the average age of the users. You’ll find that the average age has risen to above 20 years of age, so in fact, this is an excellent place to advertise your parts. Plus, you have a concentration of customer base, and a local one at that…

It doesn’t get any better then that…

You know what I don’t agree with?

Stereotyping…

Maybe we should put a link topic in the new users section that will send them to places where they can get all these common answers. You guys probably know tons of websites on SR’s and other stuff like that. If we make it more in their face, they won’t have an excuse. I’m a noob and I have to search for my stuff. And if that doesn’t work, make it so they have to have had an account at another forum site for 3 months, like 240sxforums.com, so THEY can deal with all the noob’s wanting quick answers for no work.

already done there how to’s and links FOR EVERYTHING>

ps how did you get in this section?

GT

I paid my membership fee. Am I not down as a member? Maybe that’s why I haven’t got a membership card yet.

define cleaning?

i submit into evidence, once agian…SON Hardc… no never mind

lol this argument again! haha didnt you quit being a mod because of this argument bob?

hmmm yes, as i remember i belive you did.

I never got my memebership car either, am I supposed to?

Oh and can any of you, ahem, senior member reply to this guy’s question… I cleared up what he meant but I don’t know the answer and I feel kind of bad for no one answering since he did ask nicely…

Yeah I did,

Because no one was doing anything about it, low and behold, the problem is still there and getting worse.

I could say “I told you so” but they all knew that anyways…

I think we also tried to get SON CASC approved… he was against that too…

Either way, SON isn’t progressing, it hasn’t been since the old timers left.

there was old timers?
