They left when the club maturity level continued to drop and there was no interest (at least not enough) in forming a real motorsports enthusiast club.
Some folks say if you keep headin’ East… you just might be lucky enough to see one.
i tried to fight for this a few years ago… but looking back i was also pretty imature i got my fun from making people argue with me

theres nothing we can do about it because the old timers that are sill around dont agree with eachother regarding policy on members.
some of us want a ziptied style board where the chances of you getting in are 50/50 and others want an open ended entrance such as we have now…

how about anyone can join but theres a 30 day period where you cant start any threads only post in existing ones AND club members can PM complaints to mods if they see negative posting (stupid questions, just trying to sell honda shit, or shit talking etc.) and at the end of the 30 days they get to join if they’ve been a positive contribution to the board or at least not a negative one.
that sounds good to me, frig make me a mod i’ll handle some of the workload.
what about for sale though, we have alot of newbs sign on to just sell 240 stuff, what about them?

it might also be worth mentioning that the OG’s who have retreated and supposedly found a home out east have STILL not become CASC approved nor do any but a couple race competitively. martin / adam / ken maybe?

i was not opposed to organized racing events.
i was opposed to having the club focus ONLY on racing as only like 3 people would have done it, Phil, Adam and thats about it… maybe there was another.
meanwhile, there were 450 other people who were not into racing that called SON home as well…
what was the use of CASC approval for a club of 500 at the time when only two people would use it?
if the club were CASC now what good would that do?

if you have a serious car or are serious about modifying your car and getting information and talking about it with other people who are in a similar state then ziptied is not for you.
ziptied is a SOCAL / Hawaii board and only the guys who are a part of the core group will derive any value from it.
this can be seen through a variety of ways.
i was witness to them first hand in a scuffle that i got into with several of them. try to point out that Dousan is a ricer or that the shops that support them are selling dangerous products and you get 45 guys descending on you without any real content. just swearing, flaming and idiocy.
its as immature as this place is.
the reason people like it is because they have created artificial exclusivity with their application process.
in my arguements with them i have people from all over the world back me up and all it does is make those core 40 people get their back up even harder.
i was arguing suspension with some kid sponsored by C-Tune and he got all up in arms calling me a liar and this and that…
i proved him wrong, then Alex Pfeiffer himself (battle version) backed me up explicitly in 3 different threads calling that kid out. but being right and proving them wrong means they dont like you. because they all hit the same drift practices on the weekend. Heck, they even yelled at Pfeiffer when he got upset at the kids.
Look through the build threads… useless builds … oh my brother got a mkIII supra here is us taking the engine out…. 6 pages of text… who gives a $hit but everyone lives down the street so…
We would be doing the same thing with their style of application process, just making it easier for the 150 of us in the member section to take out are frustrations on young guys that want to be a part of our forum.
If you want to know how I feel about SON and what I think should be the end result of whatever we do you can find it in the thread we used to have: “complaints about son” or something like that that Chris started when we were in transition a few years ago. I think it is gone now
You exclude no one, the club as a whole can facilitate several smaller factions within it.
If there were guys in here that were CASC approved then you could have a section to discuss your CASC events and dealings and people who were interested could take part but not everyone would HAVE to be CASC approved to be a member of the board.
The same goes for people who get approval to enter Drift Mania or FD or any other drift series… not everyone should have to be a leet drifter to post on here.
This is a 240sx club, not a ‘people who are casc approved AND own a 240sx” club.
If we did that CASC thing then there are a lot of people who would never have joined, people that I am happy to know and call friends that would have no use for a CASC club.
More than being here to market products I am here to network and meet people who share common interests with me.
I don’t try to befriend every kid who joins the boards, that would be stupid.
But when I go to Toronto I call up Cahil if I’m downtown, I stop by Prestige to see John if im out at Yorkdale.
I called Ed and Adam when I Chris and I were around the airport then we stopped by MSSC on the way home.

I was out with Dan a few times recently, its great to talk to a guy on here with a university education working professionally for a few years now, I don’t get to meet a lot of people like that who are into these cars.
I used to go out and chillin waterloo at andrew’s place a couple years back when I was n guelph…
When Varun comes down to niagara he gives me a call and we go out to eat.
None of these people, with the exception of Sasha now, are interested in CASC, some not even into drift, but all good people none the less…
But of course, if we wanted to tighten up and not let people in we wouldn’t have the chance to meet people whom we will call friends because we’ll be excluding people from joining and getting to know us and us them.

i think the help wanted section should be taken out, and technical can have questions and discussions and buildups
similar to ziptieds setup… i think there are too many pointless sections and too many old sticky’s, car chat is pretty much off topic
i hate scrolling through so many sections… and stuff is usuially in the wrong section anyway.
I have to disagree.
Personally, if i’m looking for real answers to real tech questions and problems first place I tend to go to is ziptied. How many people on here do you think knows about decent wheel fitment? A handful maybe. LSDs? another handful. Proper cages? Maybe one or two people, sasha and that other guy are the only people I hear about with cages.
On ZT, they’re actually building cars to track race and compete not just building cars to be “the fastest on the streetz0rz” or the most drift “looking” car.
The builds are all outstanding, usually gives people something to strive for. Enjuku, the Aristo chop/wheelbase shortening (amazing), BooZTT’s Z32, etc. correct me if i’m wrong but I did read a “Niagara builds - 56k unnh, Bentley uunnhhh” thread too.
How can you say that if you have a serious car, ziptied isn’t for you? IIRC the majority of people on there compete regularly (d1, formula drift, justdrift, etc.). the majority of people have been building their cars from the ground up and have very elaborate suspension and drivetrain modifications designed to be abused on the track. the majority of people don’t just bench race.
It’s an american and japanese board, not just hawaii and socal.
And why would you try and call dousan a ricer and not expect the outcome, you have to expect that a tightknit community would be up in arms. If someone came on here and called Greg a bitch because he drives a european piece of wood (lol) or said that Varun sells shady motors or something we’d all be pretty upset too because we know different.

I dont think there is much tech stuff left to discuss on Son that hasnt been brought up and that can be found in a search. I Do like the new sections for the vendors and i enjoy reading Bings posts on his new products and Ian being an idiot. But really the whole how do i put an sr in this and that is getting really old.
I must say however i am dissappointed with you Bing, it makes me sad you dont call anymore. 
bings is right, ziptied is shit. The tech on there is terrible, there is so much of that groupy bs it’s not even funny. Look at the post a while about about e-fans. “drifters in japan don’t use e-fans!!”
Ziptied is only good for oc style drama in the drifting scene, that’s it.
If you want tech freshalloy is your best bet.
For son to be a good board, it needs to focus on what it is, a local 240 board, it should have more about the local 240 scene. The nazi modding needs to stop with any thread containing a picture getting moved to the media section. Unless it was posted by bing. No wonder this site is so boring, anything that gets posted is locked or moved to the media section. The tech section should stay small with the basic stuff. Nobody searches on here anyways, so having a big section is pointless.
Look at the two mods that do most of the locking anyways, Original Nutta is a fa.ggot, and GT Greg is building a FWD VW, like honestly. There’s two things that can be fixed in a heart beat.

Spilner dont worry about the new guys who will come from F&F3. Fan boys will come and go. Anybody remember DX1 and DX2? That brought people in but where are most of them now? Same thing will happen. The guys that stay will be more serious. Guys that dont you wont care about and will forget.
