Ok…my first ticket ever… and it’s at the airport (Toronto Pearson Int’l). 65 in a 50 zone…already reduced from 85…
No points taken (right???)
Should I fight it? (Don’t really want to since the court is in mississauga)
Will this ticket affect my insurance? (does no points taken mean no insurance problem?)
Does Peel region police (that’s who ticketed me) have jurisdiction on airport property? Technically, I believe the airport is provincial territory.
Fawk…the streak has been broken…at least I didn’t get my licence taken away for doing 85 in the 50…
Up to you, I fought mine. I had no proof whatsoever nor any reasonable argument, I was pretty much just hoping the cop wouldn’t show. One of the stupidest things I’ve ever done, but it worked. No ticket now
Choose option 3, plead innocent, send it in, take it to court, talk to the crown attourney before the proceedings start, they will fill you in on what will take place and what your chances are. At that point, you can either go through with it, or you can get the crown att. to give a plea of guilty for you and you can go home.
One thing, if you are infront of the judge, answer ONLY the question he asked you!!! If you try to “tell a story” or whatever, he will jump on you. He WILL give you time to say whatever it is that you need to, and usually they will explain the situation to you if you are nice: Yes sir, no sir, your worship, etc…
ive been driving like an idiot for 4 years and only was actually pulled over off a government street 3 times. twice from oakville undercovers that hang out at a plaza and they thought i was hotboxing my car
and then in my corolla just to make sure my 10day was valid
I just got a ticket for doing 70 in a 60 and I am going to go and fight it. Even if you do not win your still basicly keeping it off your record for at least a year or so since the courts are backed up.
I drive like a jackass too, and been doing so for atleast 3 years now. The one ticket that I got (and fought off) was when my celica was full of office chairs and I couldn’t see the cop (or much of the road :D) to slow down in time. I’ve ran into speed traps numerous times, and I’ve always seen them on time and slowed down.
Then again my celica looks like (and is) a total POC. My friend who actually has a slower car (Lancer) gets pulled over far more frequently because his car is bright yellow and has a spoiler on it (even though it’s factory).
Well, thanks for all the input guys… but after considering that this is my first ticket ever (10 years of driving experience), no points, and it’s only $50, i’m just going to pay it and pray.
I also called X-Copper and the guy basically turned me down saying that they have been noticing that lately, if you fight a ticket that has been reduced at the scene, they bump the reduced ticket back to the original speed you were caught at. I don’t know if he was shitting me, but I don’t want to take that chance because 30km over the limit is going to get me an insurance hike for sure!
