You’d actually be suprised to know that a lot of people (including old guys) are running spray as well as building engines for spray. The guy that fills my tank up in averill park has a 7sec car with a built (somthing over 700ci) engine that has a dual stage n20 setup. 1200hp without n20 and 2000 with it.
I love the extra 3mph trap I got with only a 50 shot. With this, I don’t have to run as much boost prolonging the life of the turbos and still making the same power. Not to mention, I am not always spraying so it would tecnically be less continuous strain on the engine.
To each his own though.
i can totally understand something like that nick. i bet that 700 cu beast isn’t stock on the inside either, but actually a fully built monster. this is the point i was trying to make… if its an all-out, balls-to-the-wall type of purpose built track car, and the goal is to make as much power as possible, using nitrous is completely acceptable.
on the other side of the coin, your setup is well researched and engineered. the fact that when you go wot you aren’t spraying every time, while using the spray and not pushing the turbo’s as hard makes perfect sense. this is what separates a well-planned build that lasts, as opposed to a bolt-on crapshoot.
all in all, nitrous is not good for any motor. in moderation its okay, but most people i know take it too far.
…and blow the welds on the intake manifold. then me and the mad scientist here have to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried…
Any jackass can drop their shit off to a shop too and come out with a fast car they didnt build…point??
A whole lot more than you even think man! And i am one of em. Ever install a dual stage fogger kit with a WOT switch, purge, remote bottle opener, window switch etc? Ket me know how easy it is to do that!
And most legit kits are not a push of the button. There are progressive NMU’s that distribute the nitrous flow.
And why build a motor for spray? B/c you can have a pretty docile car that you can run a 300+ shot through!
He’s not calling anyone specifically out, he just said it as a generalization. Most (not all) don’t do the proper mods/research before adding spray. And before anybody calls the turbo/blower kids out, yes, there are the same type of people who do not do the research before adding a bolt on turbo kit.
However, it is a lot easier to buy a 50shot kit and put it in your stock neon espresso then it is to add a turbo kit.
Like FN Skanks said, a cars engine was not designed for the use of nitrous.
and most cars that get turbo’s/blowers strapped on them arent either…whats your point here because I dont see it?
what ti comes down too…is N20 is another form of a power adder…does the same damn thing a supercharger or a turbo does. Thats the bottom line.
everyone has their own preferences.
I happen to like 2 of the 3 :ninja
I agree…I love turbo’s…and Like nitrous. I would go either of the 2 before I went with a S/C
its not much of a secret nick lol
thank you. exactly what i was saying.
i wasn’t calling anyone out.
being one who does all my own work, there are few things i’d “drop off at a shop” to have a fast car.
i just don’t see where the reliability factor is running in your favor with no2. maybe in something like nick’s car, but the average person isn’t going to the lengths that he did to make the car what it is, from an engineering standpoint. most of the people utilizing nitrous and just “bolting-on, and going.” without the proper research, you have a ticking timebomb at your fingertips. again, i am not speaking of the hardcore built internals guys or anything like that. i’m talking about johnny ricer, or joe schmo, who’s going to throw a wet kit on, and expect the car to hold up forever.
the only thing i would say is better about turbo/sc vs spray is your not going to say shit i ran out of boost…now i have to get it filled up my turbo again.(this is just how i see it) again spray is a great for making quick cheap power i’m not against that at all but i would just rather have power everyday then only when my bottle is full.
spray adds hp
turbo/sc adds hp
some like it some don’t that’s all.
most of my cars are set up forspray it is more to it than hookin it up for durability and max gain ,like in auto cars the conver and flash point gearing all the same as f/i and just as reliable as f/i in mt experiance i have seen more turbo cars burn up than no2 cars
Nitrous is like crack… I can’t wait to build the motor in my car so I can slam a GT3582R on it and spray a dual stage 100/200 shot on it. 600hp @ 40psi off spray FTMFW.
thats how ya do it squeeze all out fuck it
Spray is my bitch. Ive run well over 150 bottles through my car, and I wouldnt trade it for anything. Its amazing the instant hit of torque that the spray gives you.
the kit was sitting in his room for a while. he called me one day and said the nitrous was going on the S4. YESSSSSSSSS
it was someone else’s kit, so he negotiated a deal, the kit for a R/R of an engine, it wasnt too bad aside from a release bearing issue. a few hours of work for a full wet kit. not bad
some points of interest, and all 3 forms require special attention in some way. and like anything else, if it hiccups or has a fault in the tune, bad things can happen
-most superchargers are VERY Linear.
-depending on the engine size/ turbo used they can also be quite linear, with some intial torque spike
-nitrous is a MASSIVE torque spike, which is why rods are highly recommended when spraying higher than a 75shot in most cases.
175 Shot on a stock 5.0 bottom end FTW!!
