hey, you have the dash out of the 94 with the glove box. you tell me what it has. lol
IT RUNS
(now would be a good time for someone to tell me the code to make it play in the post)
I need to put the one relay on a switched ground still. thats why I had to unplug it to get it to turn off.
nice. progress feels so good doesn’t it?
nice progress.
Mine still hasn’t run.
eh, it doesnt feel as good as you would think, there is still so much to do.
all of the wires are just twisted together. I figured thats the only way until I find a permanent location.
So today I am going to go take it all apart and put the sheet metal back on so in a few weeks I can mount the intercooler and piping, radiator, condenser, and find a final home for the wires. Ill probably just zip tie the harness for now.
ugh, 7 classes start monday. I hope it takes a while before I get enough work to impede on my weekends… lol
thinking about it, I cant believe how well it ran with NO vacuum lines hooked up…
Seems like a lot of work for not much of a motor but hey, to each his own. I’d definitely put some gussets on both sides of this though:
agreed^ this will be a fun truck once its done tho.
ya think I would need to? I chamfered every edge and burned it in real good. I guess it wouldnt hurt.
nice, good progress
awesome project. where is it at? If it’s not far and you need a hand, I might consider driving over.
the project is in zip 14747. prob 2-3 hours from binghamton. I will be down all labor day weekend if anyone wants to come down! lol
pictures from this weekend
I attempted to use the 240sx fuse/relay box but it was just a jumble of wires and I got frustrated so I cut it off. I had a set of relays from this remote start I never used to I screwed that and the ecu to a piece of plywood. It really helped for some reason.
Im scared looking at that wiring right now… and i dont even have to work on it. lol. But sweet build so far… i love the idea of a high power low weight engine going in this thing… I hope you drift it! Have you seen the whiplash drift truck with a mitsu 4g63 in a mazda?
man that wiring looks ugly. good luck!
FYI-
Jeep Grand Cherokee (93-98) steering boxes are Saginaw 700 (same model as the s10s), 12.7:1 ratio, are cheap and are a direct bolt in for second gens. I would imagine there are adapter fittings to make first gen lines work if they are different. The stock steering shaft should work since Jeep shafts are used as an upgrade in S10s.
Jeep boxes are going for $65+ shipping while ZQ8 boxes run $125 and up + shipping.
good to know, but I am pretty sure my parts truck is a zq8. I already swapped that one over. is the jeep one the same ratio as the zq8?
the wiring really isnt that bad. I just have the harness un-loomed so it looks crazy. lol.
isnt the whiplash truck a mitsu mighty max pickup? lol but yeah looks like a sick build cant wait to see it complete. love seeing projects that you dont see many others doing
ZQ8 ratio is the same as the cherokee ratio
^^^yep. and travis that red truck has a rear sway and zq8 wheels its defineatly a zq8 truck. fyi, the gearbox should be about 3 turns lock to lock. sweet deal on getting it running, and if you really want to know i can look and see what codes are in that glovebox.
speaking of glovebox, the 98 should have the zq8 rpo code right on the sticker in there.
oh, it will say zq8 right on it? lol. ill have to check on the weekend of the 5th
yea idc, you can check if you ever remember. there isnt anything on that truck worth selling really so it doesnt matter.
