Sti vs. Evo

i DDrove my friends '05 STi for a month, great car, but honestly the Evo’s just outperform the STi on the track…

Sounds like I’m paying to much for rent

Don’t worry, it won’t be any time soon at all.

If you dont have to worry about winters, why not buy something rwd?

I couldnt put up with the cheapness of the STi/evo interiors on a daily basis.

Plus everyone and their mother has an STi/evo.

i love the sti

vote for STi.

rwd/awd > fwd/awd

i do like the evo i just like the sti better

Had mine since august of 04. I see them much more often as i did then and it has taken alot of the pimp factor out of it. I still get the occasional “omg that dude has an sti, i have one of those in forza/need for speed” when in a drive thru. I don’t get the comments as much since i took the wing off.

STi looks waaaay better w/o the wing. Good choice.

Agreed.

The drivetrain is what would make me nervous.

ok fine… you’re right, the evo sucks and has no options or cool shit

why the flame? he’s just correcting mis-information from igggggnannnnnnt scoob owners lol?

My post wasn’t ignorant. I was pointing out that head to head comparisons from Japan/UK are skewed because they have these options.

I understand, but we live in the states, so ur reasons for it having too many systems in aiding the driver were pretty much invalid.

wasn’t a flame - was a joke

who’s iggnant now fucker

what I think is that more STi owners need to stop jerking to pink parts on the internet and come play some friendly follow the leader at dunnville.

it will be easy since I’m FWD? which is interesting because last I checked it was a full time AWD split 50/50 and not FWD with rear wheel assist like the R32

I like both cars. We work on both and I tune plenty of both.
They’re both fun to drive right out of the box, and you can make either one pretty darn fast if you want to.

Peronally though, I’d never own an Evo 8. Mitsu quality isn’t something I can accept on my own car since I’m used to Subaru quality.

We’d be happy to work on or tune whichever one you get.

the sti has 45-65. 50-50 if you want it to, but who would do that?

POWER BOOST!
110% POWER!!!

lol

& lol @ newman as well

DOH! 35-65 im a gayzor

Damn, i must have missed this thread. So my input might do a bit of justice considering I switched from WRX owner to Evo 9 owner.

If you crave power and want just a few add ons to go fast…EVO. But like Mike said, I wouldnt buy anything other than an Evo 9. Now I have no comparison due to the fact that I havent owned an Evo 8 but Ive heard people throw a good amount of money in modding the 8, and it still slow compared to modding a 9. I’ve spent a great deal of money into my wrx and it felt like it kept getting slower. I’ve never owned an STI, most of my friends do, so i cannot comment on power advantages. Ive driven the STI and if your looking for a DD then thats the sure way to go. I DD my Evo and absolutely love it but my G/F hates the fact that its a very “bouncy car”.

Second thought to consider.

Rob has got a valid point. I’m starting to learn the true meaning of DSM and how Mitsubishi service dept. (Ray Laks, Dan Georger) will not help you with anything. I’m having issues with my shifter linkage… ect. Having issues since June 2007. The slightest little mod and Mitsubishi crys about it. When I had my WRX they didnt really mind I had a few things done to it and right on the spot solved my issues.

The reason I chose the Evo over the STI:
Price, insurance (if you can believe it), research as to what I intended/ wanted to do with the car. Also how can you go wrong, the Evo was in the 3rd Fast and Furious movie…j/k I really wanted an 05 STI but I looked every where with Little success. Do some research, listen to your fellow NYspeeder’s reviews. If you want a ride in the Evo, I’d be more than happy to give you one.
