By that same logic people who get rear ended are at fault because they were in the way of the person behind them. Because they were to stupid/ RECKLESS for not paying attention.
I’m not saying you’re completely wrong at all but, just a bit skewed. I’ve had more close calls and run ins with so many people texting while driving, not paying attention, eating, smoking, drunk, thuggish kids in POS cars trying to race me, etc, etc. Out of all the close calls I’ve had 97.9% have been from shitty drivers. With all of that being said…
Any good normal rider has no reason to run from the police. I’ve been pulled over on my bike before and because I’m a normal enough looking guy with his license, full insurance, a valid inspection, and full riding gear I don’t get hassled by the police.
We’ve talked this topic to death this season. The short of it : There are tons of stupid people out there (driving). Put them behind something that requires training and good fast decisions and they’ll fail. A high performance bike is just easier to obtain than a high performance car. The bike is also less forgiving in an accident.
My biggest issue with stories like these is how closely their dumbass actions could have easily affected anyone else that should have been in their path. These guys wiped out around a corner…a corner that could have had oncoming traffic…with you or me meeting them head on.
I still disagree. You were driving the bike and there was no one around. I don’t see how anyone else could be at fault.
it’s a speed LIMIT, not recommended speed. You were going too fast for the conditions that you were unprepared for.
what if it was winter and the roads were clear and you were driving a car; as you round the corner blind, snow had blown into the road and you slid off the road… is that also the county’s fault? It’s their job to keep the roads clear…
I was prepared for road work, back 1/2 mile when I saw the sign.
there was a sign a half mile before that there was road work ahead???.. so what’s the problem?
IDK, I just hate when other people try and place the blame on someone else.
Not to be a dick, but I’m not arguing facts with you. I’m not looking to get rich, hell…I don’t even care about the damn bike. Plain and simply put it was an accident. I’m not perfect, I’m sure if I had gone through the corner at 5mph it would’ve been fine and dandy. But I didn’t, I went to the post speed limit, did everything correctly and you know what? Shit happens sometimes. There was no reason for that road, a known dangerous corner, to have the amount of gravel that it did on it. The road sign that was posted, if you were at the scene which you were not…was so far ahead of the corner that we assumed it had passed. Not untilwe entered the blind corner did we see three orange cones moved onto the grass, not blocking any portion of the road, just placed so that no one drove off the road. At 30mph, a blind corner, on two wheels…we had no warning at all.
I’m done with this whole thing. I don’t even care that my bike is wrecked because this community isn’t the same it used to be anyways. I’m just angry that I crashed due to laziness and negligence on someone else’s behalf.
I’m not playing the devil’s advocate. I feel very strongly about taking responsibility for one’s own life. I don’t like suits like this because it just reinforces the idea that the public needs more protection, laws and government influence.
To me, everything you have typed reads:
“Government, you didn’t keep me safe from choices I made”
They just said on the news that they interviewed the guy that lived and they took off cause they had suspended license. It would of been a small fine but my condolences to the family. RIP
Yeah. No matter how careful you are sometimes shit happens. That’s the risk you take when you ride. 30 mph probably seemed plenty slow at the time. Sucks that now you’ve got a broken finger and a wrecked bike that says it wasn’t.
