But on the other hand when I go tonight, I will probably do a rep style workout, warmups @ 135, 145 x 12, 155 x 12, 165 x 10-12, 185 x 6-8 and then back down in weight hitting every increment until 135
I’m in cutting mode… I built from 170 to 190 and I’m down to 179 again…, I can still rep 3 set of 185 x 10 and probably max out at 225 for 1 or two reps. so I’m happy that I haven’t lost too much strength… running 3 miles each workout sucks, but it’s working well.
I can wait to start eating tons more calories again!
i dont think so, arnold had a name for it. he would basically get to the gym, then change up his workout completly, possibly even the body part he planned on working. Ill have to look in the encyclopedia to get the name he had for it. Ill have it in a few minutes.
what would be the point… tricking yourself ? lol
laziness for me but for him it was to keep the body guessing i guess. it was called the “instinctive principle” by the way
Don’t you have to be able to do 3 full reps for it to be your “max”? Otherwise I think my “max” is like 240 instead of 205, haha.
No. It’s called a 1RM, or 1 rep max.
Just started training for a marathon im running this summer. ugh
That’s so weird, in HS and at planet fitness and wherever else they said being able to do 1 rep in anything doesn’t matter. Interesting. Going back to the gym tonight to see my 1RM.
your first problem was going to planet fitness for physical fitness advice. They go by one principle, and that is to just do whatever u feel comftorable with, and its ok if u stay fat forever. Olympic weightlifters and powerlifters would have laughed in the persons face who told u that. People who power lift and olypmpic lift do a shit ton of 1’s because thats what their competition calls for. And it works for them obviously.
ran a half marathon today…
~2:10:00. slow…
word.
ran my first mile nonstop in 8 minutes 9 seconds… in hiking boots and I have asthma haha. Still an achievement for me. Going to try 8 minutes flat today, maybe I’ll bring a water bottle this time. How many people here are at or around a 7 minute mile?
For a single mile I can go a bit under 7.
I got up to 245 on the bench today and just missed 255.
today was my off day, my back is buggin me. Hopefully it feels better tommorow, im gonna beat the shit out of my arms
Weak, injured, out of shape crew.
That’s awesome, I’d be in rough shape if I ran a 6:XX mile. I wasn’t out of breath much when I was done but my legs were pretty tired. Using the 1RM thing I did 225 on bench. I feel like it’s cheating though to say it’s my max. haha
I weight 143 as I sit right now. Maybe I can get jacked and bench 280 by the end of summer, and effectively lift twice what I weigh. Probably not especially since I gave up on planche pushups =\
btw planche pushups are inconceivably difficult.
i use my perfect pushup things, i love em
Can you tell a big difference? I liken those to hammer curls v normal curls, and there’s definitely a big difference between those.
Fedor says to do pushups on your knuckles so that’s what I do. heh
on a side note, pushups are nothing like planche pushups
yes i knwo planche pushups are not like regular pushups, but they are similiar. You are using actual body weight to do the exercise. Hammer curls believe it or not are meant to hit ur biceps and ur forearms at the same time. They are a very good forearm exercise and they help stretch the biceps muscles and elongate them.
When I run on the treadmill (hate it) I run at 8.5 pace, which is around a 7 minute mile… When I run outdoors, I am usually in the mid-6 minute range.
Fastest I have ever ran is 5:50, and I was dead after.
Khoveraki – come and join us on Monday night dude!
