Catholicism isn’t Christianity, they are very different. Catholocism wasn’t the only flavor of Christianity until the protestant reformation.
What else was there? Care to give me some examples?
Catholics follow the traditions and teaching of men, plain and simple. The church reduced salvation to a saleable commodity, they sell salvation through the church.
LMAO
And Protestants don’t? Protestantism didn’t exist until MEN created it, notably Martin Luther and John Calvin.
Generally, the folks on the TV selling miracles aren’t Catholic either.
As far as the apostles being catholic, I highly doubt John was when he wrote the book or Revelation.
What are you talking about? I suggest you read some history: The Apostle John did NOT write the Book of Revelation. He was DEAD by this point, as Revelation seems to have been written around 100 AD. John the Evangelist, and early Catholic teacher, is mainly credited with having written the Book.
As A protestant I believe the bible, I am free to read it and interpret it myself. The catholic church teaches that it’s followers cannot read and understand the bible for themselves. What man made traditions do I have to follow that aren’t in the bible.
From the catholic catechisms
“The task of interpreting the Word of God authentically has been entrusted solely to the magisterium of the Church, that is, to the Pope and to the bishops in communion with him.”
As A protestant I believe the bible, I am free to read it and interpret it myself.
Wrong. Again, what are you talking about? Are you just making this stuff up?
What if you are choose to interpret that predestination does not exist? Doesn’t that kind of make you NOT a Calvinist?
The catholic church teaches that it’s followers cannot read and understand the bible for themselves.
And Protestantism does the EXACT same thing. You follow the teachings of men, whether you’d like to admit it or not. How can you be a Lutheran and reject Martin Luthers teachings? How can you be a Presbyterian and deny John Calvin’s doctrine? You can’t.
What man made traditions do I have to follow that aren’t in the bible.
Are you a Lutheran or Calvinist? Where in the bible is predestination mentioned?
From the catholic catechisms
“The task of interpreting the Word of God authentically has been entrusted solely to the magisterium of the Church, that is, to the Pope and to the bishops in communion with him.”
From any Calvinist doctrine:
“You are predestined to go to either Hell or Heaven from before you are born. Your path is already determined. This is not mentioned AT ALL in the bible, but it’s true because we say so”.
I guess that is why i go no a non denominational Christian church. I am not told how to interpret anything. My church has beliefs that it believes are fundamental to faith in Christ, and anything like predestination we are open to disagree about among each other per our interpretation.
I guess that is why i go no a non denominational Christian church.
I respect that.
Keep in mind, that whatever version of the bible you are reading is most likely a version which has been reinterpreted and retranslated many, many times throughout history by men.
have you ever reasearched darwin and his theory of natural selection and evolutionism? you’ll find that in his later years before he died he basically said it was all bullshit
i had a bunch of anthropology classes at penn state but they just showed how early human-ape things were an attempt to explain early bone disfigurations in humans that science later found to be something else. in the 70’s all the talk was finding these incomplete skeletons…which weren’t even removed from the same dig site but from a couple feet away.
on a side note theres a psychology prof at ccac south campus (scientist) that has a theory about how there is really no gravitry and aliens live in the center of the earth. he spent 4 hours lecturing on it the other day i heard
well I am baptist because I read the bible and translate it literally. the bible isn’t open to interpretation.
I do not believe in Predestination. I do believe that God knows what we will do every minute of everyday for our entire lives here on earth but doesn’t predestine us to heaven hence why we have choices.
yes catholics think their paritioners are idiots and that is where the money making comes in because you are paying a bishop to tell you what something means when anyone with common sense can figure it out for themselves if they so chose too.
I am sorry but most books of the bible are written by who I would consider protestant but some were probably written by “catholics” even though at the time catholics were probably far from what the church has become today.
fact is other places other than the bible there are writtings of Jesus’ works here on earth and his miricles.
something a religious scholor told me one time(actually at my grandfathers funeral) who has spent a entire lifetime studing religion and it’s origins just backed up my beliefs. he said other religions leaders can be dug up and they are only dust but Jesus rose from the dead and is here no more.
don’t go and say exactly that means he doesn’t exsist because like I said even darkstar acknowledged he walked on earth even if he doesn’t believe he is the son of God.
Much like the roman soldier that stabed jesus on the cross and was covered in his blood I will say with total certainty that Jesus really was the son of God
