The Be All-End All Religion Debate Thread! version.ON-Topic

he doesn’t BELIEVE in those theories, he just offers the “no gravity” thing as a believed, if by few, philosophy. He taught a class at North a few semesters back… most interesting class I ever took there.

it’s actually not the first time i’ve heard the theory. it goes like this: everything is infinitely growing in size at the same rate… so while you and your floor are the same size now, you’ll be much larger with every passing moment. When you jump, you increase in size and meet the ground again, not because you fell, but because you grew until the space between you and the ground became zero.

googled it… it’s called Expansion Theory.

Its funny how buddhism focuses on life and how it will effect a person’s “reincarnation”, when christianity focuses more on eternity with Christ, leaving the details of the current world bland and the importance of salvation loud and clear. This could be why people are not approached by buddhists, but yet christians evangelize. …buddhists are too busy trying to reach nirvana.

but everyone has a direct connection to God.

:ugh:

i envy your debate skillz, playa…

it is the truth

Its accounted as well that the average life spans were much longer than now, in Genesis for example, whatever time period that was. Noah is said to have been 950 years old when he died. …this is some great stuff right here to try to get you people to believe in :hsdance:

Some more neat stuff…

Good friend of mine is an outdoorsy guy and a while back him and some of his climbing buddies made it to the peak of some crazy mountain out west. He’s a strong christian man and when poking around the top of this mountain, he came across SEASHELLS! He has them to this day, being proof of the big flood in the bible.

Another guy, friend of a friend, strong christian, looking for a house. His wife found a house she loved, but was way out of their price range. They ended up looking at the house and made an offer, 45k lower than teh asking price. Knowing there would be no way someone would take that kinda cut, dude prayed that if it was ment to be that the Lord give him this house. A week later the offer was accepted.

Me: long while back at an old place of employment, I was shorted $100 on pay that was clearly the companies error. Instead of persuing it, I prayed that the Lord work in this situation. Less than a week later I made it back working a side job and a month later the supervisor was let go.

Even before that, was at church and being held was a youth retreat. It was a big event down in florida. I wasn’t able to get the money together, so I figured i’d pass…no big deal. Like a few days before, someone anonymously payed for my entire trip while a spot opened up the day before that for the trip. During the trip I found out all my buddies were praying for me b/c they knew my situation.

I could bring up all kinda times when God has worked in my life. I’m not sure what led me to type these, but whatever. Sure you could call it coincidence, but its plain it was a higher power.

your right noah was 950 years old but we also don’t know how long a year was in that time just as we don’t know how long a day is to God. a day in Gods eyes could be a million years to us.

awesome stories man I will think of a few tonight from my life and post em up

Really it’s this kind of stuff in my life that really makes me believe, there has just been so much it has to be far more than coincidence. It is just something that has to be experienced to be believed.

the same can be said about “evolution” where did the monkey come from? and if we did evolve from those smelly ass things, then why are they still around? why didnt they all “evolve?”

the evolution chain has too many holes in it to provide ANY backing that man evolved from that state. well other than they have 4 fingers and a thumb, and there “ability to think” is almost human-like. which is also BS because the same can be said about a damn parrot. they can talk so does that mean that man must have evolved from a bird? or how about a dog? they can understand and do commands such as man does.

i evolved from a cockroach

adaptation bottom line.

Yargh, arguing with BoostedITR41 about religion is about as pointless as hitting my head off of a wall over and over and over again.

I’m not going to post the same stuff again and again.

I’m bowing out.

wimp :fart:

the 1st link i didnt even bother to look at because it states darwin’s theory, and even darwin himself said on his death bed that it was all BS basically. so it has no backing, he was just sitting in his office one night looking at pictures and came up with the idea.

the 2nd link, once again i will ask, where did the monkey come from? did it just form out of thin air from 2 micro-organisms and fall on its ass? both those links are what i learned in high school. they have no serious backing to what they are trying to prove. the line of evolution is just another way for people to try and get the “upper hand” on the bible. it was basically made up by a couple of dummies who were digging up bones and combined two skeletons to make up one and said " wow look it appears to be human, we must have came from this."

why? because he whole-heartedly believes in something and can provide back-up to his beliefs compared to yours?

Abiotic Production of Organic Molecules
The classic experiment demonstrating the mechanisms by which inorganic elements could combine to form the precursors of organic chemicals was the 1950 experiment by Stanley Miller. He undertook experiments designed to find out how lightning–reproduced by repeated electric discharges–might have affected the primitive earth atmosphere. He discharged an electric spark into a mixture thought to resemble the primordial composition of the atmosphere. In a water receptacle, designed to model an ancient ocean, amino acids appeared. Amino acids are widely regarded as the building blocks of life.

Although the primitive atmosphere is no longer believed to be as rich in hydrogen as once thought, the discovery that the Murchison meteorite contains the same amino acids obtained by Miller, and even in the same relative proportions, suggests strongly that his results are relevant. The Beginnings of Life on Earth

Others have made similar experiments. A group at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego, exposed sulfur-bearing molecules like those thought to have been present before the Earth formed to low levels of light. The presence of the light was enough to generate organic compounds - molecules containing carbon, which form the chemical basis of life as we know it.

adaptation yeilds to new species forms. look at bacteria for example. you have some strains of teh same type of bacteria that are susceptible to basic pennicillin. with over treatment of penicillin the bacteria adapted and became resistant to penecillin. It had to adapt to survive.

why? because he whole-heartedly believes in something and can provide back-up to his beliefs compared to yours?

Are you kidding me?

Because in face of facts which I posted AND backed up, he ignored them and posted the same stuff which I had already contradicted with historical evidence.

I’m all for whole-heartedly believing something, but come on. Don’t tell me that Protestants wrote the original bible and created Christianity.
