Ticking Noise..

well … sounds like the consenses agrees with the oil filter …

there was basicly this much metal in each pleat of the filter:

bummer

a rod knock or valve tick would make the noise all the time , at idle whenever, it should also gte faster as teh rpms raise

i think u may have some other problems, im not sure of

Before you go crying your self to sleep…check the plugs/wires…

Definitely not always the case dude. My Starion had rod knock at only certain RPM/throttle position, but gradually got worse to where it did it all the time.

I know other people have experienced it the same way I have as well.

Joe … that is one of the funniest things i have ever heard … (sorry joe but i just dont trust any tech’s that work for that chain) … as far as anyone knows … it could be a rocker noise (poss a bad lobe on a cam ) that would cause a random misfire code

i doubt its a rocker arm, thats simply not possible … there are no rockers, its a cam on valve style head

your gonna tell me that there are no “followers” on that head …

I know these do … it’s an upside down “Rocker”

yea, why ?

the sho engine is the sam way, the cams are dirrectly above the valves, and the valves / retainers / spings have a cap on them that the lobe slides on , on the sho you shim the caps to get the last you want

nope…mine only did it under moderate load between like 2500 rpm and 3800 rpm. outside of that there was nothing.

ugh.

I just listened and it does not sound good.
I am unsure what that could be
but in any case.
Good luck.

wishin you bought a z yet??? sorry about ur bad luck… hope its nothing serious…

Jager should chime in on this. Way back in Spring (April perhaps?) his motor was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the piston hitting the head every so slightly. This may be the same problem. Good call on that Mike.

oil pan is coming off tonight…

what is that in the picture I can’t make it out? it that a wrinkled pice of metal? how would that get through the oil pump?

if that is the case you might look into replaceing the oil pump as well.

and because i’m a ass. broken lexus < 219K taurus muhahahaha

i didnt even hear anything last night it eaither got way worse or or im going deaf.

it is definately louder than when i herd it the first time at mighty when we raced. or he had a mic really close to the engine.

dont be sneaky this time…what happened now?

Sounds like you spun a bearing, I know that sound all too well.

Your not going to find any shavings or anything in the pan if thats what your looking for.
